Good Boy episode 3-4 recap: Did Yoon Dong-ju and Ji Han-na’s risky ruse in the car pay off? 

Good Boy, starring Park Bo-gum, Kim So-hyun, and Lee Sang-yi, released episodes 3 and 4 on JTBC on June 7 and 8, respectively. Good Boy follows the story of five former athletes who become cops through special recruitment. Despite their personal issues, they come together to combat crime in the city using the skills they acquired from their sports backgrounds.

In episode 4 of Good Boy, Ji Han-na (Kim So-hyun) decided not to quit her job, while Kim Jong-hyeon (Lee Sang-yi) also joined the special crime unit investigation team. Ji Han-na and Kim Jong-hyeon were paired together, while Yoon Dong-ju was partnered with Ahn Jae-hong (Tae Won-seock).

However, Yoon Dong-ju (Park Bo-gum) somehow ended up with Ji Han-na's car for a stakeout mission. Being a bit clumsy, he spotted the target and began to take their pictures. His movements created some noise, attracting the target's attention.

The target approached Ji Han-na and Yoon Dong-ju’s car. Ji Han-na quickly assessed the situation, and to avoid detection, she sat on top of Yoon Dong-ju. She pretended to engage in an intimate act with him to divert their attention. The target saw them and left. Ji Han-na successfully navigated the crisis.

Good Boy ep 3-4 recap: Yoon Dong-ju finally catches Min Joo-young

In Good Boy episode 3, Yoon Dong-ju confronted Min Joo-young (Oh Jung-se), but he pretended not to know anything. Yoon Dong-ju promised to catch him no matter what. He attempted to persuade Go Man-shik (Heo Seong-tae) to investigate Min Joo-young, but he was ignored.

Lee Gyeong-il's (Lee Jung-ha) mother saw the news about him. However, she firmly believed he could not kill anyone. Go Man-shik was skeptical of Yoon Dong-ju's suspicions, yet he asked Kim Jong-hyeon (Lee Sang-yi) to look into Lee Gyeong-il's case.

Kim Jong-hyeon learned that his older brother, Kim Seok-hyeon, was in charge of Lee Gyeong-il's case. Although Kim Jong-hyeon wanted to investigate further, his brother closed the case and accepted Lee Gyeong-il's initial statement.

He called Kim Jong-hyeon just to mess with him. Kim Jong-hyeon was reminded of how his brother was always first, and this time he taunted him to either improve his performance or join their father's business instead of working at the police agency.

As Good Boy episode 3 progressed, Min Joo-young ordered the correctional officer Han to get rid of Lee Gyeong-il. The next day, Lee Gyeong-il made headlines for committing suicide in his cell, writing an apology note on the wall. Lee Gyeong-il’s death left Yoon Dong-ju devastated. He found the golden watch he had seen with Golden Bunny and Min Joo-young.

Yoon Dong-ju once again went to the customs office and lost his cool. He punched Min Joo-young, injuring his face. Although Min Joo-young chose not to sue him, he handed Yoon Dong-ju a book to write in. Yoon Dong-ju faced a three-month pay cut. Correctional officer Han was absent from work, which raised suspicion.

In Good Boy episode 3, it was revealed that Min Joo-young had kept Correctional Officer Han captive because the watch found in Lee Gyeong-il’s belongings was his. He did not have mercy on him for creating a mess and killing him.

After losing her son, Lee Gyeong-il's mother asked Yoon Dong-ju to stop visiting her, or she might begin to resent him, even though she knew it wasn’t his fault. Later, it was shown that Ji Han-na's father also owned the same watch. She checked at a pawnshop and learned it was a high-end watch with only 12 pieces ever made.

In the latter half of Good Boy episode 3, it was revealed that Ji Han-na’s father was a cop involved in a Russian Mafia case in 2003 and was reportedly killed by the mafia. However, the case closed as it remained unsolved. It was also revealed that Ji Han-na had been unwell since childhood yet worked hard to achieve record-breaking wins, including a gold medal.

However, Ji Han-na’s mother's greed for money pushed her hard for advertisements. Due to her long hair, which came undone at a crucial competition, she lost focus and ended up losing both the medal and the record. After a meeting with her mother at the police station, Ji Han-na felt unwell and dizzy. She almost fainted, but Yoon Dong-ju caught her just in time.

Ji Han-na urged Yoon Dong-ju to stay focused and catch the culprit. She gave him the medal he had sold at the pawnshop. By the end of Good Boy episode 3, Ji Han-na retracted her resignation. In episode 4 of Good Boy, Go Man-shik learned that a man named Gwan-se would lead them to the heart of the illegal car trade. Go Man-shik and Yoon Dong-ju captured Gwan-se and learned that another man named Monkey was behind this illegal car case.

Go Man-shik, Kim Jong-hyeon, Ji Han-na, Ahn Jae-hong, and Yoon Dong-ju went behind Monkey together, but when they arrived at the location, they had to confront a large crowd. Notably, they were using the commissioner’s car intended for sale in this mission, and since he could not find his vehicle, he assigned the RIU to retrieve it. The RIU team reached the same spot to recover the car.

After a fierce battle, Monkey managed to escape, with Kim Jong-hyeon in pursuit. As Kim Jong-hyeon drew closer to Monkey, he saw a man had attacked his neck with a knife and chased after the assailant. However, he could not catch him, and the commissioner's car was nearly destroyed.

Meanwhile, Min Joo-young planned to flee the country through a scheduled overseas assignment. The SCIU team investigated the illegal car involved in Lee Jin-su's hit-and-run case. They also found a deep connection between the illegal car sales, Lee Jin-su, and Min Joo-young.

Ahn Jae-hong, Ji Han-na, and Go Man-shik went to the port to search for the exact vintage car. Meanwhile, Kim Jong-hyeon and Yoon Dong-ju met Min Joo-young, attempting to stall him by claiming they needed to discuss the Lee Gyeong-il case. However, Min Joo-young struck Yoon Dong-ju, asserting that he was actually the one who killed Lee Gyeong-il and was involved in a boxing match between Lee Gyeong-il and Yoon Dong-ju.

Min Joo-young got into his car and drove away. Shortly after, Go Man-shik contacted the others to inform them they had found the vintage car in one of the trunks at the port. They told them they would file for a warrant against Min Joo-young. Kim Jong-hyeon and Yoon Dong-ju followed Min Joo-young, who went in a very narrow lane. While Kim Jong-hyeon followed him by car, Yoon Dong-ju took a different route, running onto the roof of a building where he could see Min Joo-young’s vehicle.

By the end of Good Boy episode 4, Ji Han-na and Go Man-shik reached the other end of the street to stop Min Joo-young. Yoon Dong-ju seized the perfect moment to jump onto Min Joo-young's car. Kim Jong-hyeon arrived at the same location. Despite sustaining serious injuries, Yoon Dong-ju was too eager to apprehend Min Joo-young and got back on his feet. Meanwhile, Min Joo-young looked on, perplexed, from inside his damaged car.
