Kim Namjoon of BTS changed the tides as he clinched the top ranks on the Worldwide iTunes Song Chart and the European iTunes Album Chart with his latest solo album Right Place, Wrong Person. As of May 26, 2024, the Grammy-nominated artist from South Korea raced to the top of the Worldwide iTunes Song Chart with the lead single LOST! from his new record. Simultaneously, on the European iTunes Album Chart, he peaked at No.1 with his album and stayed there for three consecutive days.

This is a significant feat considering that he became the first and only K-pop and Korean solo artist to accomplish this in 2024. Namjoon's second solo album Right Place, Wrong Person was dropped on May 24, 2024, and consists of 11 tracks.

Meanwhile, the pre-release song, 'Come back to me' which was released on May 10, ushered in the arrival of his full-length second solo album. For the leader of BTS, the song is a significant victory because it is his first hit on one of the most competitive music charts. Notably, 'Come back to me' made its debut on the UK Songs chart at position 80.

The set opens with the song named after the album title itself and addresses feeling out of place, underscoring the adage of "right place, wrong person." The second track 'Nuts' gave his fans a glimpse of love gone wrong which further made the ARMY speculate about the idol's dating life and experiences. Which grabbed the top of the two most esteemed music charts.

The third song out of love speaks of losing faith in love and finding a way out of the whirlwind romance while the fourth track Domodachi (feat. Little Simz) is about the artist coming together with his closest friends and seizing the world together. The title is made up of two words, "Domo" which means "casually" and "Tomodachi" which means "thank you, my friend." However, the song is a sarcastic dig at others who pretend to be his friends due to his stardom.

The album then shifts gears with the fifth track '? (interlude)' and follows it up with Groin. This sixth track is a complete diss track where Namjoon slams the haters. According to BIGHIT MUSIC's press release, the track is Namjoon's honest reflection on people that he dislikes and who try to malign his and his bandmates' image for selfish reasons.

Groin is followed by Heaven which is the seventh track from his second album Right Place, Wrong Person. It is a soulful song where he touches on themes of self-love, healing, and finding his new self beyond the world's hate and sinister desire. The tracklist then introduces the lead single LOST! at eighth where Namjoon talks about his trials and tribulations and fighting amongst his four other personas: overconfidence, aggression, impulsivity, and caring.

Meanwhile, the ninth track Around the world in a day (feat. Moses Sumney) is a Jazz-infused R&B song by Namjoon reminiscing his memories of his past lover as he bids adieu to them and embarks on a new journey by himself. This is followed by the tenth track ㅠㅠ (Credit Roll) which expresses his gratitude to the friends and fans who stayed with him despite struggles and obstacles.

The BTS leader then concludes his album with his eleventh and final track Come back to me in which he reaches an epiphany that everyone finds their way back home and to their loved ones eventually. The album earned the biggest debut by a Korean and a K-pop act on Spotify in 2024.

Kim Namjoon released his second album through his management label BIGHIT MUSIC, under HYBE Corporation, since the artist has been serving in the military at present. He enlisted on December 11, 2023, alongside his bandmate Kim Taehyung, aka V. Currently, he has been deployed to the 15th Division of the Republic of Korea Army and will be discharged from his duties in June 2025.
