BTS leader Kim Namjoon, known globally as RM, revealed in the latest video MMM (Mini & Moni Music) that he struggled when band member Jin enlisted in the military. The group's eldest member, Jin, enlisted on December 13, 2022, to fulfill his mandatory service in the South Korean military. The video was released on May 25, 2024, when BTS' Jimin and Namjoon came together to discuss the latter's second solo album release, Right Place, Wrong Person.

During his conversation with Jimin, the Like Crazy singer-songwriter revealed how it was evident that Namjoon was struggling with Jin being gone to the military. Namjoon even confessed to crying on the day Jin enlisted. Fans were moved by the sudden revelation and shared how the new detail made them emotional.

"When Jin started his military service and you released "Indigo" I don't know why, but you looked anxious. Like you were having a hard time. That's what I felt...you even cried," Jimin said. (as auto-translated by YouTube)
"People keep forgetting namjoon is still the youngest in the hyung line. When the leader himself feels down, of course he turns to the older brother. I cant do this my heart quite literally hurts just hearing their conversation" — an X user wrote.
"There’s really something different & extra special with Jin’s bond to all the members. I remember Jhope said in one of their interviews that Jin keeps the group under control. It must had been really difficult for all of them being apart from someone that binds them together." — another X user wrote.
"My take is that Jimin is as genius as Joon, but in emotional quotient. It takes a very high level of emotional intelligence to be able to quickly grasp how other people feel, especially when that other person doesn't himself realize how he feels." — an X user wrote.

Several other fans dug a little further and shared old clips of Namjoon and Jin where the Indigo mentioned that he has a hard time whenever Jin is not around. This further added momentum to the latest clip from MMM (Mini & Moni Music), which went viral online.

"IDK if I'm the only one thinking like this but RM may be the leader (the best at that) but Jin is their pillar of support. His positivity and laid back perception of things, hold them together. He's their support and glue. That's why they're worried when Jin enlisted." — an X user wrote.
"Watching this interview was both a calming balm and a punch to the gut. I can relate to Namjoon in a lot of ways from what he’s describing, and to have someone as caring and understanding as Jimin there is the best thing to balance the chaos I’m sure NJ’s genius brain endured." — another X user wrote.
"I was already in shambles about indigo being released just before Jin left and rpwp coming out just before Jin returns" — an X user wrote.
"We know they are extremely close like a family but we don’t even know the half of it, they were together 364 out of 365 days of the year and for that to suddenly change. It’s so upsetting. I’m ready, we are ready, they are ready for 2025." — another X user wrote.

Namjoon reveals his reason for creating another album after being scuffled by life

The special video MMM (Mini & Moni Music) was released on the band's second official YouTube channel, BANGTANTV, as a surprise episode for the fans. The video gave fans a glimpse of the artist talking about his trials and tribulations of the past two years, which pushed him to create his second solo act.

The Domodachi rapper-songwriter, who created 11 tracks for his new solo release full of rage, anguish, and a sense of evident self-doubt, opened up about his life. As he and Jimin listened to all the tracks of Right Place, Wrong Person one by one, Namjoon elaborated on how horrible things happened in his personal life, making him isolate himself from the group. Jin's absence made it even harder for him to cope.

"Seriously, so many things happened that most people wouldn't even experience in their lives. And I ended up on an entirely different course. Originally, I was about to enlist when Hobi did, but then I met San Yawn from Balming Tiger and he thought I was really interesting...He said 'Why don't you stop being a part of BTS for a while and leave a record for yourself after going through all these things?'...So we started working on this album on early-February (2023)," Namjoon recalled. The BTS frontman elaborated on how San Yawn from Balming Tiger told him about the former's "contradictory personality," as Namjoon bottles things within himself despite being outgoing. He suggested that Heaven's rapper-songwriter channel his pain and angst through music and leave something for his fans before he enlists to serve in the military.

For the unversed, San Yawn also served as the creative director for both LOST! and Come back to me music videos from Kim Namjoon's second solo album. The album was released on May 24, 2024.

In other news, under the nation's conscription policy, all men in South Korea between the ages of 18 and 30 are required to join the military. The BTS members opted to finish their military duty and get back together in 2025.

Kim Seok-jin enlisted in December 2022 and will return in June 2024, followed by J-Hope in October 2024. The rest of the team, including RM, V, Jimin, SUGA, and Jungkook, will safely return from their services in June 2025.
