HBO's Insecure alum Amanda Seales has spoken about her Floetry experience in her recent Club Shay Shay interview with host Shannon Sharpe. Seales was briefly part of the English R&B group before reportedly having a fallout with one of the members, Marsha Ambrosius.

Originally consisting of Natalie Stewart and Marsha Ambrosius, Floetry was formed in 1997. The two met at a basketball court in London and eventually bonded over their mutual love for poetry and music. In 2007, the two parted ways and Seales replaced Natalie.

During the April 24 interview on Club Shay Shay, Sharpe told Seales he read that she was not well-received as a Floetry member by the audience and had been booed. However, Seales said the information was “incorrect”.

Before delving deep into the discussion, Seales declared she would write about it “extensively”. She revealed that when asked to join the R&B group, she was told Natalie had left the group, but “apparently that was not the case”.

Amanda Seales thinks Marsha Ambrosius wanted her to quit Floetry

Floetry's original duo Natalie Stewart and Marsha Ambrosius moved to the U.S. three years after the group's formation. The Floetry duo wrote songs for Michael Jackson, Glenn Lewis, Jill Scott, and Bilal. Natalie was called the Floacist of the group.

They delivered several hits until 2007 when Marsha released her solo mixtape Neo Soul Is Dead under Aftermath Entertainment. She and Natalie parted ways after which the latter released her extended play Spoken Soul Volume 1. Amanda Seales replaced Natalie on their shows in the same year.

However recalling her time in Floetry, Amanda Seales revealed on the Club Shay Shay interview the fans were not informed that Natalie would not be joining the group's tours. Seales told Sharpe that her arrival on the stage initially did not sit right with the audience. She said:

"It’s not that people were mad at me because of how I was delivering the work. It was that they felt duped by the ticket sales. Because they had bought tickets to see the Floetry they knew. And they were protesting that this was not the Floetry they knew. Nonetheless, every time I won them over because I am talented."

Seales continued:

"I remember you know, being at Club Love in DC and they had their backs turned to the stage and it was like I had to…it was like I was on The Voice. You know I had to get them to turn them to spin them chairs around."

However, the 42-year-old actress, singer, and comedian said she continued to sing her song and she was not reciting "poetry" but was actually "singing". Seales then claimed:

"But Marsha never made it any easier...I think that they wanted me to quit."

Amanda Seales went on to explain the reason as to why she thought this way:

"Because then she could proceed on the tour by herself and she was in the process of going into her solo career, and the way that I was treated, was so just sh*tty that I think they were really trying to force me to quit and they almost did. They almost got me out of that."

Seales further said one of their music directors informed her that Marsha removed her solo song from the set list of one of their shows. While confronting Marsha about the same, Seales received a call where she was told Natalie Stewart was ripping her up on a radio interview with Wendy Williams.

At one point, Amanda Seales felt demotivated and wanted to leave the group. However, she revealed that their drummer Daryl encouraged her to stay.

In Wednesday's Club Shay Shay interview, Seales told Sharpe how her journey with Floetry came to an end. She claimed Marsha had Seales make a Myspace page for them. Amanda Seales said:

"And then she didn't accept the friend request...and that was the end of it."

After that, Seales went on to work on her solo music career and released her EP Life Experience. Shannon Sharpe asked her if she had any contact with Marsha Ambrosius after the fallout. Seales said she saw the Floetry member at an Usher show recently, where Marsha offered to hug her, but she refused.
