Both Kelly and Beck look visibly emotional on hearing the shocking news, with the former tearfully reporting on Kirk's death at the age of 31. On hearing the news, Beck, who is seen wiping his eyes, added:

"There's no way he survived that. There's no way he survived that. The only good thing is it had to have happened quickly, right."

Elsewhere in the live broadcast, Kelly compared the shooting to US President John F. Kennedy's assassination. According to Entertainment Weekly, the former Fox News host claimed that Kirk suffered a "direct hit" from "some sort of a rifle or shotgun."

She also conveyed her condolences for Kirk's wife, Erika, and their children, calling the conservative activist "one of the most important voices" of her lifetime.

"His children have lost their father. Erika's lost her love. And we have lost one of the most important voices that we've had in my lifetime on the right. One of the most important messengers. Someone sent by God to change minds and hearts on the most important, divisive, difficult issues of our time," she said.

Megyn Kelly, who regained her composure as the live show progressed, broke down again after reading Turning Point's official statement confirming Charlie Kirk's death. The political commentator added that she was "really f**king angry" at how and why the shooting occurred.

She also credited Charlie Kirk as one of the reasons for President Donald Trump's win in the 2024 presidential election, saying:

"One of the reasons why we got Trump is Charlie Kirk. We all play our part in some small way, but there is no denying the effect Charlie Kirk had on this election."

"He loved getting out there on the road and going to college campuses. He loved debating with people. He loved coming on our show and doing his show. He loved doing the Turning Point events, which are so special and so influential and so important. But he loved his family more than anything. He loved God," she wrote.

While admitting that Kirk's loss might be personal for people, she added that it was not the time to respond with violence. However, she called for full accountability for the shooter, adding that they should be punished "to the fullest extent possible under the law," writing:

"But the perpetrator should be held to account to the fullest extent possible under the law, and we must take an honest look at what motivated him (assuming it was a ‘him’)."

She continued:

"In any event, we need to catch the person, and we need to find the motivation. We need to punish the person, and we need to punish the people who created the motivation and the circumstances that led this person to think they could walk into an arena and take the innocent life of a good and decent man. I have faith in the law enforcement to find out."

Additionally, the president blamed the "radical left" for Kirk's death in a recent Oval Office address, adding that the left's alleged comparison of right-wing commentators like Kirk to Nazis was "directly responsible for the terrorism" in the United States.

According to The Guardian, the shooter has yet to be apprehended, with the Utah Department of Public Safety adding that there is a "manhunt for the shooter."
