Love is Blind season 5 star Lydia Gonzalez has revealed that she is divorcing Milton Johnson after nearly three years of marriage. She shared the news on the official Love Is Blind podcast, What’s the Reality?, hosted by fellow alum Amber Desiree “A.D.” Smith. The new episode, uploaded on June 11, featured Gonzalez speaking at length about the reasons behind their separation.

During the conversation, Gonzalez explained that their relationship started to break down just six months after their wedding, despite them appearing content at the reunion episode aired in October 2023. She said she kept quiet until now because she wasn’t ready for the judgment that might come with opening up about her experience.

“Maybe the internet was right. Maybe he wasn’t ready for marriage. I think he wanted to be ready for marriage, but I don’t really think that he was ready to be a husband,” Gonzalez said.

Lydia also revealed that Milton refused to sign the divorce papers unless she agreed to an NDA. She officially filed for divorce on March 31. The couple had been the only pair from season 5 to get married, making their split a significant update for viewers who followed their story.

“When I saw that, my heart went to the floor. I felt, like, betrayed and disrespected,” she told Smith.

Although he eventually ended communication with his ex, she said it took him over a year to do so. Gonzalez shared that while they did try to build a life together, Milton's lack of consistent support and emotional availability made it difficult.

“I just started feeling like I was losing my spark,” she added.

She also mentioned that some of their fights stemmed from small disagreements, like her choice of swimwear or cursing around his family, but those added up over time. When asked if the seven-year age difference was a factor, Gonzalez said it wasn’t about the numbers but rather about emotional maturity and communication gaps between them.

Love is Blind star Lydia became emotional as she explained that Milton was not supportive following her diagnosis. When she wanted to take medical leave from work to prioritise her health, he did not agree.

She also expressed that her marriage never felt like a priority to him. By March 31, Gonzalez had filed for divorce. She said that Milton wanted her to sign an NDA in exchange for his signature on the divorce papers, a move that made her feel like she needed to speak out.

“That said enough for me to know that I needed to share my truth and my experience because I’ve been suffering in silence,” she said.

Gonzalez concluded the episode by saying her healing would be “loud and profound,” and posted on Instagram to share clips from their past while explaining her decision to move forward.
