"Most awkward" — 90 Day Fiancé fans react to Shawn and Alliya's wedding ceremony

In 90 Day Fiancé season 11, episode 17, released on June 8, 2025, Alliya and Shawn tied the knot, marking the start of a new chapter in their relationship. However, things became awkward between the couple as Shawn expressed disappointment with Alliya's poor time management.

Alliya was about two hours late to her own wedding, irritating Shawn, who criticized her for making his mother and the other guests wait for her in the heat. Consequently, he suggested they head to the altar, get married "real quick," and allow the guests to leave as soon as they finished their meals.

To speed up the process, Shawn also advised the marriage officiant to read only the portions necessary for them to be married legally. While speaking to the cameras, Shawn confessed he felt "off" and was not interested in appreciating how Alliya looked in her dress or anything else.

At the ceremony, the couple only said "I do" and exchanged rings. As they walked out, neither of them exchanged words or congratulated each other. 90 Day Fiancé on X commented on their wedding, noting how tense everything was. While many criticized Alliya for being late, others mentioned that the whole ceremony was awkward.

90 Day Fiancé alum Alliya breaks her silence on the short wedding ceremony

While speaking to the 90 Day Fiancé cameras, Alliya expressed disappointment over how short the ceremony was. She said she was surprised and upset by how quickly everything was wrapped up. Alliya wondered what went wrong that led Shawn to rush their wedding ceremony.

In another segment, Shawn's mother apologized to Alliya, explaining that she had fallen and injured her ankle and hip. Consequently, Alliya suggested to Shawn that they should cancel the reception dance, as she felt uncomfortable with his mother being hurt. Shawn agreed with her decision.

"For me, it's very easy to turn the situations and even if something very bad and, like, transform that for good thing. I'm trying to find the best part of it, and I think I did my best. And I just wish him to feel happy and proud for this big moment of our story," Alliya said in a 90 Day Fiancé confessional.

When encouraged by the guests to give a speech, Shawn remained seated and thanked everyone, including Alliya, for attending the event. While addressing the cameras, Shawn mentioned that he began to reconsider his marriage with Alliya, noting that she was focused on her "own issues," during which she overlooked everything happening with him.
