In the June 1 episode of 90 Day Fiancé, viewers got to see the couple, Joan and Greg, enjoying their wedding festivities and the rehearsal dinner the night before the big event. While Greg's family and friends were present at the gathering, Joan's were not. Her family could not come to the U.S.A. due to the unavailability of visa appointments.
Not only were they absent from the pre-wedding festivities, but they would also miss the main event. It was a significant moment for Joan, and she was heartbroken that she could not share it with her loved ones. Greg, on the other hand, was aware of her disappointment and knew he had to do something to make his wife-to-be feel better.
Consequently, he surprised her with traditional Ugandan performers to give her a taste of her homeland. In my opinion, the gesture was touching, as it not only made Joan feel seen and loved but also proved how much Greg cared about her happiness.
The 90 Day Fiancé male cast member demonstrated that marriage was the union of two entities, not just about one person marrying another. Consequently, it was important for him to ensure the day was as eventful and memorable for Joan as it was for him.
It was heartwarming to see Greg invite the Ugandan performers, as it allowed Joan to feel a sense of familiarity, especially in the absence of her family members. In my opinion, Greg not only saved the day, but he also made it better by giving Joan a taste of home while she was living in a foreign land all by herself.
90 Day Fiancé star Greg's gesture shows how attentive he is to Joan's needs
Joan and Greg had a difficult relationship. They faced multiple hurdles, but eventually managed to reach their wedding day. From Joan leaving her life behind and traveling to a foreign land to marry Greg, to Greg's issue with unemployment, the 90 Day Fiancé couple experienced several ups and downs. However, they outlasted all struggles and finally reached the big day.
I, like many other 90 Day Fiancé fans, often questioned Greg's intentions with Joan and his ability to look after her. However, he proved me wrong when, in the June 1 episode, he went out of his way to make Joan feel at home.
Joan was upset about her family's absence from the wedding festivities and felt left out in the presence of Greg's loved ones. Greg noticed that and knew he had to do something to salvage the day.
The 90 Day Fiancé star asked Joan and the guests to step outside the house for the surprise. Joan beamed with excitement and happiness when she saw traditional Ugandan dancers and drummers enter the house to entertain the guests. She immediately left her seat and started dancing with them.
In my opinion, it was one of the best things Greg could have done for his partner. Not only did he go out of his way by flying the performers into the United States, but he also honored Joan's culture by incorporating it into their wedding festivities. It showed how much he respected Joan and her tradition.
By inviting the dancers, Greg respectfully represented Ugandan culture on national TV and showcased his love for Joan. He showed that marriage was the union of two entities that needed equal participation in the festivities. Since Joan's family members were absent from the party, he brought a part of her homeland to her. This is the true testament of love, if you ask me.
Joan's reaction said everything, as she felt overwhelmed with joy while speaking to the 90 Day Fiancé cameras.
"This day is my best day, I think. It really took me back home. My family not being here on this day is really sad 'cause I would like to share these special moments with them. But I feel embraced with Greg's family. I know I'm loved," she said.
She continued about how this act proved that Greg was the right person for her.
"He is really the right guy for me, so I can't wait for us to get married tomorrow. 'Cause I'm quite sure he's my man," she added.
The 90 Day Fiancé male cast member gave Joan a sense of belonging when she felt lost, and a home she could rest in when she felt homesick. If that does not make Greg the ideal partner for Joan, I do not know what will. While Greg has his limitations, they cannot be used against him because no one is truly perfect.
As a partner for Joan, Greg is the best match, if you ask me. I absolutely loved how attentive the 90 Day Fiancé alum was, and how deeply he cared for Joan's happiness. The fact that Greg beamed with pride as he watched Joan enjoy herself proved that his love for her was honest and deep.
