HBO's Harry Potter announces Katherine Parkinson, Lox Pratt, Johnny Flynn, and more as cast for key roles

The Harry Potter series has expanded its cast as HBO officially revealed nine additional actors who will be joining the show. In a press release dated June 9, 2025, posted on Warner Bros. Discovery's website, the list of nine actors includes Lox Pratt, Johnny Flynn, Katherine Parkinson, Daniel Rigby, Bel Powley, Leo Earley, Alessia Leoni, Sienna Moosah, and Bertie Carvel.

Previously, in another press release dated May 27, 2025, HBO had announced that Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton, and Alastair Stout will be playing the roles of Harry, Hermione, and Ron, respectively.

Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy

Lox Pratt will be taking the role of Draco Malfoy, the popular antagonist from the Harry Potter series. The actor will play the young Slytherin student who challenges Harry at every step.

Lox Pratt is a child actor who has previously featured in the BBC's Lord of the Flies. Lox played in the William Golding adaptation series as the antagonist, Jack. His role as Draco marks the second project in his career, making him a part of the wizarding world.

Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley

English actress Katherine Parkinson has been chosen to play the role of Molly Weasley in the upcoming series. Being the matriarch of the Weasley family, she holds a powerful position in the family and appears in several parts of the series.

Katherine Parkinson is a BAFTA Award-winning actress, best known for her character, Jen Barber, in the comedy series, The IT Crowd (2006-2013). Her popular works include I'm Darling (2018), Doc Martin (2005-2009), The Boat That Rocked (2009), and more.

Johnny Flynn as Lucius Malfoy

In the HBO original series, Lucius Malfoy's role will be played by Johnny Flynn. He is the head of the Malfoy family and Draco's father, known for their inclination towards the dark side. He is one of the Death Eaters, standing in support of Voldemort.

Johnny Flynn is a British actor and musician who has a varied range of characters credited to him. Be it the music maestro David Bowie in Stardust (2020) or the regal character of Mr. Knightley in Emma (2020), the actor has adopted different personas through multiple projects. Some of his other works include The Outfit (2022), Operation Mincemeat (2021), Ripley (2024), and more.

Daniel Rigby as Vernon Dursley

Daniel Rigby is taking the role of Vernon Dursley in the series. Vernon is the rude and strict maternal uncle of Harry, who disapproves of his wizarding background. He lived at 4 Privet Drive with his wife, Petunia, and son, Dudley. He housed Harry with his family, but his ill-treatment of the young Potter made him a negative character.

BAFTA-winning actor Daniel Rigby has had a diverse career as an actor and stand-up comedian. Some of his notable projects include Lilies (2007), Black Mirror (2013), Teletubbies (2015-2018), Hansel & Gretel: After Ever After (2021), Snow White (2025), and more.

Bel Powley as Petunia Dursley

Petunia Dursley's character will be portrayed by Bel Powley. Petunia is Lily Potter's older sibling. Being the legal guardian of Harry, she had to raise him when Lily and her husband died. The contempt she had for her sister continues in her treatment of Harry.

Recognized for her projects such as The Diary of a Teenage Girl (2015), A Royal Night Out (2015), A Small Light (2023), and more, Bel Powley has been delivering significant acting performances since 2007. Her works have earned her Trophée Chopard at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival, and nominations in Critics' Choice Awards, Screen Actors Guild Awards, British Independent Film Awards, and more.

Leo Earley as Seamus Finnigan

Child actor Leo Earley will be playing the role of Seamus Finnigan in the new Harry Potter series. Seamus Finnigan is a Gryffindor student and one of Harry's classmates.

Leo Earley is a young child actor with no prior acting credit. The actor is known for his entertaining storytelling performance at the All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil 2024. The upcoming series marks his first acting experience.
