2 new tag teams WWE can form on SmackDown Live and 2 old ones they can reunite

What if WWE decides to reunite this team?

The SmackDown tag team division is in shambles now that the former champions the Hardy Boyz decided to relinquish their titles due to Jeff Hardy's injury. The roster's top class tag teams had moved to RAW during the Superstar Shakeup and thus, the blue brand's division is now in need of new tag teams.

If we look at the current tag teams on SmackDown, none of them have the caliber to carry the division. Such is the condition of the division that even if WWE organizes the first ever tag team MITB ladder match and a SmackDown team wins the contract, they have nobody to cash in their contract against!

The thinness of the division can be measured by looking at the number of tag teams in it. The B Team, Heavy Machinery, the team of Rusev and Nakamura and the New Day are the 4 teams which constitute the division now. Thus, WWE should try to add more tag teams to this division as soon as possible.

Here are the 2 new tag teams that WWE can form on the blue brand and the 2 old tag teams they can reunite to bolster the division.

#1 New tag team - Finn Balor and Ali

Finn Balor and Ali are two of the best in-ring technicians present on the blue brand and thus, they can work wonderfully as a tag team. We saw them team up to take on Randy Orton and Andrade last week and looking at the way they performed as a team, WWE may consider them as a unit in the future as well.

Rusev and Nakamura are the favorites to win the SmackDown tag team titles now and if the heels are successful in doing so, they may need a face tag team to feud with. Talking about the way how Finn and Ali's absence will hurt the singles division, I think SmackDown has enough singles superstars to do well without Finn and Ali.

Thus, this tag team may be formed sooner rather than later on the blue brand.

#2 New tag team - Matt Hardy and Apollo Crews

If there's one man from the entire SmackDown roster who can come near Jeff Hardy's athleticism level, it is Apollo Crews. The underrated NXT star has always impressed whenever he has been given the opportunity and thus, the Creative team should try to give him a push in the tag team division now.

The reason why I paired Crews with Matt Hardy is that Apollo has teamed up with Matt in the recent WWE Live Events. Also, this will stop the Creative team from writing Matt Hardy off TV. Hardy and Crews can be a valuable addition to the blue brand's tag team division.

This may even open a door for a future Apollo Crews heel turn once Jeff Hardy returns and give the WWE Universe a compelling storyline for WrestleMania 36.

#1 Reunite old tag team - Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin

Before Chad Gable moved over to RAW, he was a part of the SmackDown tag team division with Shelton Benjamin being his tag team partner. The duo had a good run as a team and they even battled for the SmackDown tag team championships on multiple occasions.

If you look at Chad Gable and Benjamin right now, they are both directionless. Hence, it might be a good idea to reunite them and strengthen the sinking division. As mentioned ahead, Rusev and Shinsuke Nakamura are the only credible heel tag team on SmackDown Live thus, the heel team of Benjamin and Gable will give more variety to the tag team division.

It is always better to use the available talent to the fullest than to call up superstars from NXT and have them stack up the roster. This is the golden opportunity for WWE to give the careers of Benjamin and Gable a fresh boost-up.

#2 Reunite old tag team - The Bludgeon Brothers

For no reasons whatsoever, WWE decided to split up the Bludgeon Brothers after Rowan suffered an untimed injury. Harper and Rowan were forced to end their SmackDown tag team championship reign in an abrupt manner and after the stellar bout they had with the New Day a few week after SummerSlam 2018, they have not showed up on WWE TV.

This break had proven to be a lucky one for Rowan as he was catapulted straight into the WWE title picture as the bodyguard of Daniel Bryan, while Harper on the other hand recovered from his injury yet stayed off TV.

Harper allegedly asked for his release due to creative differences but WWE decided against granting him his release. Thus, if Harper is not leaving the company then WWE should try to bring back the Bludgeon Brothers on TV and maybe when Daniel Bryan recovers they can have both Harper and Rowan as his insurance policy.
