While The Undertaker is among the most respected Superstars in WWE history, he is also one of the most intimidating.

WWE is currently celebrating 30 years of The Undertaker by releasing interviews and archive footage of The Deadman on the WWE Network. The latest Undertaker-themed show, Meeting The Undertaker, showed various WWE Superstars talking about their first experiences with the legendary Superstar.

The man behind The Undertaker character, Mark Calaway, has revealed plenty of details about himself in out-of-character interviews in 2020. Now the likes of Bray Wyatt, Drew McIntyre, and Steve Austin have had their say on the WWE icon.

In this article, let’s recap all the stories that The Undertaker’s co-workers told during the WWE Network show.


#20 and #19 When Bray Wyatt and Bo Dallas met The Undertaker

Bray Wyatt and Bo Dallas are the sons of former WWE Superstar Mike Rotunda (aka I.R.S.). Wyatt said both he and Dallas met The Undertaker backstage when they were children.

The Undertaker joked around by showing off his eye-roll trick to the two kids. However, Dallas got freaked out and decided to kick The Undertaker in the shin before running away.

Wyatt said The Undertaker saw him and Dallas backstage around 15 years later. He asked the brothers, “Which one of you a**holes is the one that kicked me in the shin?”


#18 When Shane McMahon met The Undertaker

The Undertaker met Vince McMahon at the WWE Chairman’s house in 1990. Shane McMahon recalled that he was also at home on the day that The Undertaker visited.

Vince had a meeting in another room, so he told his son to talk to The Undertaker. Shane said the conversation was a little awkward at first but they soon hit it off and got along.


#17 When Jeff Hardy met The Undertaker

A 16-year-old newcomer to the wrestling business, Jeff Hardy first met The Undertaker at a WWE RAW taping in 1994. He originally thought the fake Undertaker, Brian Lee, was Mark Calaway. Once he met the real Undertaker, he found the experience “very surreal”.


#16 When Randy Orton met The Undertaker

The Undertaker once watched Randy Orton and some of WWE’s other up-and-coming Superstars at an Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) show. Orton said he was “shaking in his boots” when he spoke to The Deadman backstage.

#15 When The Big Show met The Undertaker

The Big Show still performed as The Giant in WCW when he met The Undertaker for the first time. Show said he got “chewed out” by his future WWE co-worker for about 45 seconds due to something that he did on WCW.

Although Show did not mention the specific incident, WWE's footage showed him botching a Jackknife Powerbomb with Kevin Nash at Souled Out 1998.


#14 When The Rock met The Undertaker

The Rock recalled that his first meeting with The Undertaker came when they faced each other one-on-one on RAW. The WWE Superstar-turned-Hollywood movie star said he was “so excited” to be throwing punches at The Undertaker.

He also revealed that he is grateful that The Undertaker had his back in the build-up to his first WWE Championship reign.


#13 When Mick Foley met The Undertaker

The Undertaker and Mick Foley both worked for WCW in 1990. Foley said he was there on the night that WCW gave Mark Calaway the name Mean Mark.


#12 When Ric Flair met The Undertaker

The Undertaker also worked in WCW at the same time as Ric Flair. The Nature Boy said the rookie had potential but WCW needed to find a niche for him.

#11 When Roman Reigns met The Undertaker

Roman Reigns mentioned that The Undertaker has always been a friend of his family, dating back to his friendship with Yokozuna in the 1990s. The former Shield member said he spoke to The Deadman about tattoos to break the ice when they first met.


#10 When Xavier Woods met The Undertaker

Xavier Woods worked as a druid in The Undertaker’s WrestleMania 29 entrance. The New Day member had an opportunity to briefly chat with him backstage before the show.


#9 When Scott Hall met The Undertaker

Scott Hall crossed paths with The Undertaker in NJPW in the late 1980s. Hall had a moustache at the time and The Undertaker did not have any of his famous tattoos. He called 'Taker “Big Smooth” because he was always so laid back.


#8 When Triple H met The Undertaker

Triple H said The Undertaker’s level of respect for him changed after they had a couple of matches together. The 14-time World Champion, who does not drink alcohol, even took a shot of Jack Daniel’s with his fellow WWE Superstar to break the ice with him.

#7 When Edge met The Undertaker

Edge's first conversations with The Undertaker came after The Deadman hand-picked him to be in The Ministry of Darkness. The two men developed more of a relationship once that storyline began.


#6 When Baron Corbin met The Undertaker

Baron Corbin’s first conversation with The Undertaker took place in 2015 at the Performance Center. The Undertaker helped Corbin put together his entrance before a TakeOver match. The Lone Wolf also revealed that the WrestleMania icon critiqued his match as soon as he got backstage at TakeOver.


#5 When Michael Cole met The Undertaker

Michael Cole was warned shortly after joining WWE that he must introduce himself to The Undertaker.

The WWE announcer said he suddenly jumped to his feet and stuck out his hand when The Undertaker spoke to him for the first time. However, ‘Taker refused the handshake and joked that Cole must earn a handshake from him.


#4 When Batista met The Undertaker

Batista said he first saw The Undertaker when he drove circles around the Ohio Valley Wrestling parking lot on his motorbike. Their first conversation took place in The Deadman's locker room at the show. ‘Taker gave Batista a pep talk about what life is like as a member of WWE’s main roster.

#3 When AJ Styles met The Undertaker

AJ Styles had a friend from college who became friends with The Undertaker after meeting him on vacation. The two WWE Superstars also became friends after meeting for the first time on July 4 one year. Styles said it felt like they had known each other for a while after their first conversation.


#2 When Steve Austin met The Undertaker

Steve Austin said he met The Undertaker at the Dallas Sportatorium several years before they became part of the same WWE roster. Back then, The Undertaker was known as Texas Red and he was managed by Percy Pringle (aka Paul Bearer).

Austin, who had long blonde hair in those days, said he knew as soon as he met The Undertaker that he was going to succeed.

Drew McIntyre met The Undertaker for the first time during his WWE tryout with Sheamus. The Scot noticed that 'Taker started laughing at ringside while the tryout was going on.

He thought for many years that The Phenom laughed at something that he did wrong during the tryout. However, he later found out from the man himself that he was laughing about something else.
