Roman Reigns made a triumphant comeback on Monday Night Raw this week following a successful battle with leukemia. He has been out of action for the last 4 months since he had relinquished the Universal Championship on the 23 October episode of Raw after making a shocking revelation about his health condition.

Roman Reigns, through an emotional promo on Raw this Monday, announced that the cancer was in remission and he was ready to make a return to the WWE ring. He also delivered his two signature moves to Bobby Lashley and Drew McIntyre on Raw, signaling that he was cleared to compete in the ring.

The Big Dog was not expected to compete at WrestleMania 35 until last week, but now that he has returned to Raw, he is expected to feature on the 'Mania match card. Roman Reigns is one the most popular superstars today so WWE will be planning to book him in a marquee match at the Show Of Immortals.

In this slide, we are going to take a look at 3 ideal matches for the returning Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 35.

Notable mentions:

Roman Reigns vs The Rock, and Roman Reigns vs Drew McIntyre.

#3 Brock Lesnar vs Seth Rollins vs Roman Reigns (Universal Championship match)

Will WrestleMania 35 end the same way?
Will WrestleMania 35 end the same way?

This is the most logical direction for Roman Reigns considering he never lost the Universal Championship. The Universal Championship match for WrestleMania 35 has already been announced, as this year's Royal Rumble winner Seth Rollins is set to challenge Brock Lesnar. The match card can always change before the event, so we cannot rule out changes in the announced matches.

If WWE books Roman Reigns in the Universal Title match at the WrestleMania, then it will become the rematch of the main event of WrestleMania 31.

Initially, Brock Lesnar vs Roman Reigns was supposed to be the main event of WrestleMania 31, but Seth Rollins intervened during the finishing stages of the match by cashing in his Money in the Bank contract, which made it an impromptu triple threat championship match.

The only issue with this decision might be the fan backlash WWE might get if Roman Reigns is inserted right back into main event picture.

On the flipside, this may benefit both WWE and Brock Lesnar. If WWE wants to take the title off Brock Lesnar without hurting his credibility and aura, then the triple threat will be the perfect scenario.

WWE can book fan favorite Seth Rollins to pin Roman Reigns in order to make him win the Championship. This will be a favorable decision with respect to both fans and WWE.

#2 Roman Reigns vs Dean Ambrose

It looks like we are in for a Shield reunion in the recent future given the developments on Raw this week. Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins rescued Dean Ambrose from an assault, which teased an impending reunion of the trio. It is expected that the Shield will face Drew McIntyre, Bobby Lashley, and Baron Corbin at WWE Fastlane PPV.

After the PPV Dean Ambrose may enter into a feud with Roman Reigns and challenge for a showdown at Wrestlemania 35. Dean Ambrose has blatantly disrespected the Shield in the previous months so it would make sense for the leader of the group, Roman Reigns to teach him a lesson.

Roman Reigns and Ambrose both will benefit from this match. As Roman Reigns will remain over with the fans if he won't be in the Universal title match at Wrestlemania.

Coming to Dean Ambrose, If he is really leaving WWE after Wrestlemania 35, then this would be the ideal farewell match for him in WWE.

#1 Roman Reigns vs John Cena

Two of the most polarising superstars in WWE, Roman Reigns and Cena have faced each other in just one PPV singles match thus far. Roman Reigns defeated John Cena during their earlier encounter at No Mercy PPV in 2017. Considering the stature of both the superstars, a rematch on a grand stage like Wrestlemania is never out of question.

Roman Reigns has just returned from a hiatus and the WWE universe gave him a rousing reception. Roman Reigns has never experienced such a favorable crowd reaction so far in the last five years ever since his unprecedented main event run commenced. The big dog featured in the main event of the last 4 Wrestlemanias' which has been one of the major reasons for the fans' animosity towards him.

Roman Reigns is being cheered now due to his successful return from illness. But there are high chances that fans may turn on him if he is inserted into the Universal Title picture hastily. WWE probably would not prefer that scenario. So the best possible option for WWE is to book a grand program between Roman Reigns and John Cena at Wrestlemania 35. This would ensure that Roman Reigns will be in a marquee match(away from Universal Championship) at the show of immortals.

This is definitely a Wrestlemania worthy program and if executed perfectly it has the capability to be one of the best Wrestlemania showdowns of all time.
