Over the years, many Superstars have left WWE - some reinvent themselves and return even better but some never get another shot in the spotlight.

Only recently, Drew McIntyre made his return to WWE and quickly won the NXT Championship before being fast-tracked to the RAW where quickly established himself as a dominant force. It's clear that McIntyre has a bright future in WWE and leaving WWE and gaining experience outside helped him become the performer he is today.

Hideo Itami recently left WWE after asking for his release and Tye Dillinger just requested to be released too. There are also rumours that Dean Ambrose may be set to leave the WWE after WrestleMania after refusing to sign a new contract.

With the recent surge in Superstars wanting to leave the WWE, I thought we could take a look at some former WWE Superstars Vince McMahon would love to have back and some he probably wouldn't.

#3 Wants back - Goldberg

Vince McMahon would definitely love to have Goldberg back for a couple more marquee matches. Goldberg proved he still has what it takes to be a part-timer in his last WWE return where beat Brock Lesnar in under 90 seconds, before winning the WWE Universal Championship from Kevin Owens before facing Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania.

Goldberg can still go and can be used to put over younger stars like Seth Rollins and Aleister Black.

#3 Doesn't want - Ryback

The main reason Vince McMahon probably doesn't want Ryback back doesn't have anything to do with his in-ring ability. However, it's probably due to some of the things Ryback has said since he's left the WWE. Although he's never said anything bad about Mr. McMahon himself, there's seems to be heat between him and Triple H, who is Vince's heir apparent.

#2 Wants back - Cody

I think it's clear by now that Vince McMahon definitely regrets letting Cody go. Since his departure from WWE, Cody has ascended as one of the top pro wrestlers, not in WWE and is now one of the executive vice-presidents at All Elite Wrestling.

Imagine, if WWE had never allowed to let Cody leave in 2016, there would probably have been no All Elite Wrestling.

#2 Doesn't want - Big Cass

WWE reportedly had big plans for the Cass but it was his backstage attitude that let him down. Vince McMahon himself was reportedly unhappy with Cass' after unprofessional conduct on a tour as well as reportedly no-showing a promo rehearsal and later messing up the said promo.

Producers backstage were also reportedly unhappy with how Big Cass' feud against the big show had gone. Then, there was also the incident where Cass went against backstage orders and hit and kept attacking a Daniel Bryan impersonator after he was on the ground.

#1 Wants back - Chris Jericho

Even though there's no way Chris Jericho can return now because he's signed his contract with All Elite Wrestling, Vince McMahon would love to have him back.

AEW look like they will be WWE's biggest competitors inside the United States in the coming years and with Vince McMahon would definitely rather have Jericho on his own roster than wrestling for the competition. Jericho has reinvented himself since leaving WWE for New Japan Pro Wrestling and has more mainstream name recognition than probably any other AEW star.

The reason Vince McMahon probably doesn't want CM Punk back in WWE probably has to do with Triple H's relationship with the former WWE Champion rather than his own. Punk and Vince McMahon were close during his final years in WWE and Vince reportedly even teared up when Punk was saying goodbye after before walking out of WWE before that infamous RAW in 2014.
