From Elias becoming the new 24/7 Champion on Shane McMahon Appreciation Night to R-Truth regaining the 24/7 Title from Elias after the Main Event, this week's edition of WWE SmackDown Live (28th May 2019) featured a lot of contrasting moments indeed.

I felt that several 24/7 Title shenanigans occurring throughout the night made last night's show more entertaining than it had any right to be. On top of that, the SmackDown live Tag Team Division seems to have a definite creative path for the time being. With that being said, most of the episode did not have enough newsworthy moments to hook the viewers in.

Here are a few interesting observations you may have missed during this week's edition of SmackDown Live.

#3: Kevin Owens dropped a huge mystery at the beginning of the show

Before Owens would go on to face Kofi Kingston last night, The Prizefighter revealed that he was not behind a suspicious backstage assault on Big E last week.

There is always a chance that Kevin Owens could have been lying, as it is ingrained in the nature of his character to do so. But then again, the fact that Owens dropped this piece of information at the beginning of the show might indicate that there is a bigger twist to this story.

Whodunnit? If it wasn't Owens or Ziggler, then this question opens up a wide range of possibilities. Bray Wyatt and Aleister Black are characters that need a thread to link their appearance on the main roster.

Maybe nobody attacked Big E, and the man himself pretended to be injured for some potential reason.

What do you think? Who attacked Big E? The answer to this mystery could change the landscape of Kofi's reign as WWE Champion forever.

#2: The SmackDown Live Tag Team Scenario finally has a legitimate feud on the line

This particular segment on last night's show was pretty much by-the-numbers. But it at least established a legitimate feud for the SmackDown Live Tag Team Titles in the first place.

There is something funny about witnessing Otis stare a hole into Bryan and Rowan just after the former 'YES' Man called the SmackDown Live Tag Team Division a joke and gave a shoutout to Wiggles the Pig and Wilbur the Cow to highlight humanity's crimes against Mother Earth.

Right off the bat, we know that this feud is going to delve into a light-hearted tone throughout its entirety.

Big E and Xavier Woods (New Day) need to headline this division sooner than later. But for what it's worth, Heavy Machinery might have finally found a rope to break into the Main Roster scene for good.

#1: Why the 24/7 Title scene elevated the entire show

R-Truth won the 24/7 title for a second time at the end of the episode

There is a reason why WWE showcases recurring 24/7 Title segments throughout the night.

It is obvious that this newly established title has had fans at the edge of their seats. In a way to ensure that the WWE Universe sits through 2/3 hours of programming every week, we have 24/7 Title segments occurring throughout the show's (SmackDown Live/RAW) entirety.

So when you actually break down different elements of last night's SmackDown Live, it seems that the recurring 24/7 Title sequences were the best part of the show itself.

As a matter of fact, one could even argue that the championship changed hands twice just to establish another Reigns/McMahon subplot as the Main Event of the night.

Elias won his first WWE Title (24/7 Championship) during the episode, only for R-Truth to regain it at the end of the show. Roman Reigns helped R-Truth to win the said title after the Main Event, which just goes on to show that almost everything serves to elevate the Reigns/McMahon feud on SmackDown Live these days.

While the good guys stood tall at the end of last night's show, let us not forget that Shane McMahon vs. Roman Reigns is still a legitimate Super Show Down feud, and truth be told, all the meaningless subplots (Reigns/Elias, Reigns/McIntyre, etc.) meet their end only when the feud itself wraps up for good.
