Jimmy Uso's return during last week's episode of SmackDown sent shockwaves through the wrestling community. He returned to join his brother and Roman Reigns, greeting them at the start of the show.
As the episode progressed, however, things started to slowly break down. On one side of things, Jimmy Uso was unwilling to be cowed by his cousin, as Roman Reigns looked to dominate him as well.
At the same time, he had issues with Seth Rollins, who accused The Usos of causing distractions during his match with Cesaro.
Finally, the night came to an end when Roman Reigns, Jey Uso and Jimmy Uso were all beaten down by Cesaro. Prior to the assault, the returning Uso was supposed to make his stand on SmackDown clear — whether it be siding with Roman Reigns or standing on his own two feet, away from his family members.
Questions were left unanswered as a result of which fans are waiting for what he will have to say in the coming weeks.
The following are three reasons why Jimmy Uso should acknowledge Roman Reigns and two reasons why he should not.
#3 Why Jimmy Uso should acknowledge Roman Reigns: To protect Jey Uso
Jimmy Uso has only recently returned after he was out with a year-long injury. Throughout this time, his brother has been at the side of Reigns, following last year's feud between the two stars.
Jey Uso has been in the middle of Reigns and Paul Heyman, with both of them berating him for every mistake he makes. Jey's confidence has gone down, and where he was once the main event star battling Reigns for the Universal title, he is now no more than a lackey.
If there's ever been a time when Jey needed his brother, it's now. Jimmy Uso could acknowledge Roman Reigns, and thereby stay by his brother's side, protecting him from the wrath of the Tribal Chief. At the same time, he could help to get his brother's confidence back to a place where he could venture out on his own.
#2 Why Jimmy Uso should not acknowledge Roman Reigns: He does not need the Universal Champion
Jimmy Uso is an accomplished wrestler in WWE. Over his long tenure with the company, he has won several tag team titles. In fact, along with his brother, he is thought to be one of the best tag team wrestlers in the world.
Jimmy's time away from the ring saw his brother forced to combat Roman Reigns alone. Jey Uso proved he could be a main event performer outside of the tag team division.
Jimmy Uso is yet to prove the same. A technically gifted wrestler, his high-flying move set in the ring ensures that he fits right into WWE's style of wrestling. If he refuses to side with Roman Reigns, he will likely have to go on his own path, possibly even banished to RAW.
There, Jimmy could use some time to prove how capable he can be without his brother. While the Usos are always the best as a team, this could help add more credibility to Jimmy Uso as a singles star.
#2 Why Jimmy Uso should acknowledge Roman Reigns: Common enemy in Cesaro
Last week's episode of WWE SmackDown saw Jimmy Uso at a crossroads as he had to choose between his family or his own ideals. It appeared that Jimmy Uso was going to walk away from Roman Reigns and his brother.
However, before there could be a final answer, Cesaro attacked both of the Usos before assaulting Roman Reigns in the ring. Cesaro stood tall to end SmackDown after destroying the superstar he will challenge at WrestleMania Backlash.
While Jimmy Uso might have left his family and gone down his own path, now, he may be left with no other choice. By attacking Jimmy Uso, Cesaro may have forced him to join hands with his family to take care of the common enemy.
Cesaro has posed a threat to everyone on SmackDown thanks to the recent revival of his career. Unfortunately, this time he may have bitten off more than he can chew.
He has to face the wrath of not only Roman Reigns, but possibly a newly reunited Jimmy and Jey Uso, as well as an unforgiving Seth Rollins.
#1 Why Jimmy Uso should not acknowledge Roman Reigns: It could lead to a feud
Jimmy Uso may be back from injury, but a year of absence from the ring can translate in many ways. Ring rust is very real, and it has been a long time since Jimmy Uso battled anyone inside the squared circle.
What better way could there be for Jimmy to get back up to speed than wrestling his brother? If Jimmy Uso turns his back on Reigns, his cousin will not take it kindly.
In fact, the WWE Universal Champion could then instruct Jey Uso to deal with his brother, leading to a feud between the two. A few matches with his brother would likely see Jimmy Uso back to his old form, as the two are very familiar with each other in the ring.
At the same time, the WWE Universe would finally see what it was like if the two battled each other. A match between the two is something that fans have been asking for, and WWE could now provide it.
#1 Why Jimmy Uso should acknowledge Roman Reigns: An exciting Family vs Family feud could be in the future
If Jimmy Uso acknowledges Roman Reigns, then there's a very good chance that The Tribal Chief would give his blessing for his two cousins to battle for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships.
The two were last champions in 2019.
Currently, the SmackDown Tag Team titles are held by The Dirty Dawgs who happen to be feuding with another family — The Mysterios. According to recent reports, WWE may be booking The Usos for a SmackDown Tag Team title run. Given that Ziggler and Roode are a heel team, it's unlikely that WWE would want them to face each other.
Instead, it's possible that Dominik and Rey Mysterio win the titles and then The Usos challenge them. Jey and Jimmy Uso facing The Mysterios could be one of the best tag team feuds we've seen in a while. For this reason, The Usos should stay together, and Jimmy Uso should acknowledge Roman Reigns.
