3 Reasons why John Cena won't win the 2019 Royal Rumble match

John Cena is bringing the excitement back to the WWE, and whether you love him or hate him, there is truth to that statement, as Cena's return to the WWE in 2019 has seen the WWE product improve quite a bit. While Cena himself is not responsible for all the good things that WWE has produced over the last few weeks, his interactions with Becky Lynch, Andrade 'Cien' Almas, and even Finn Balor has seen him improve their careers and the show as well.

And on the road to the Royal Rumble, speculation of whether Cena is back to win his third Royal Rumble match is at an all-time high, as his ventures in Hollywood get more successful maybe this is the time for WWE to get Cena to his 17th Wolrd Title run, but all ' rumors' aside it seems unlikely to think that Cena would be the man to win the Royal Rumble match this year, and here's why.

#1 The Part-Timer Status

While he is still here, it's only a matter of time before Cena officially leaves the WWE.
While he is still here, it's only a matter of time before Cena officially leaves the WWE.

Back in 2012 John Cena and The Rock's rivalry was the hottest thing in WWE, as WWE branded this 'once in a lifetime' confrontation between the biggest star of the attitude era and the biggest star of the ruthless aggression era as a battle of loyalty. As Cena's rebuttal to The Rock calling him a PG merchandise machine was that Rocky was a sellout part-timer that chose Hollywood over the WWE.

And how ironic is Cena's words all those years later, as he became what he hated the most. While Cena going to Hollywood makes him a bigger star, as when he makes his appearances on WWE TV throughout the year, it brings more of the casual viewers to the product, it doesn't change the truth, Cena is not here for the long haul anymore.

After his movies, Blockers, and Bumblebee received critical and box office acclaim, it seems Cena's future is in the movie industry and not the WWE. So a Royal Rumble win would be unlikely for a man that has upcoming projects outside of the WWE, as the last thing WWE would want is another part-time champion, and Cena himself would never want that as well.

#2 His Time Is Up

The Ruthless Aggression is over.
The Ruthless Aggression is over.

John Cena is from an era that is still relevant to the wrestling scene today, as fans still love to live in an era where wrestling took more risks and characters were engaging, but sadly while we love to revel in WWE's past glory, it is time to move on from those days, as nostalgia is something that cant exist in the landscape of wrestling today.

Look no further than legends such as The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, and Kane. They are stars that revolutionized wrestling in the past, but due to their inability to compete at the level they used to, it feels out of place when we see them in the main event.

That is why WWE is using all of their past stars to put over the new generation, as we see Rey Mysterio, Randy Orton and Jeff Hardy put over countless of current and newer stars, as they have more to give than actually earn at this point.

The same goes for good-old John Cena. No matter how many stars Cena has 'gone over' in the past, that just can't happen anymore, as WWE needs new megastars to rise in this time of need. Their biggest draws have retired or left the company. So by Cena winning another Royal Rumble it does nothing for building for the future.

#3 The Stepping Stone

Cena is at a point in his career where he has nothing left to prove.
Cena is at a point in his career where he has nothing left to prove.

Cena is one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, and while you wrestling enthusiasts out there might say how can his five moves of doom even put him in a category consisting of legends such as Shawn Micheals and The Undertaker? Well, Cena earns his place there due to his undeniable popularity that kept WWE going after the attitude era and his ability to be a fantastic wrestler.

Cena is a fantastic wrestler because to be a wrestler you need mad microphone skills, drawing power, and then to be competent in the ring. all the greats have those three things, and Cena has it. But Cena's role right in the WWE is to not steamroll through all competition but to elevate them, as he has become a stepping stone for new talent, whether fans of the man like it or not.

Cena is here to help the likes of Finn Balor, Dean Ambrose and Andrade reach new heights they never thought they would touch before. So the chances of him winning the Royal Rumble is not going to be great, as WWE has settled him into the 'stepping stone' role, and after having a career that saw other legends do that for him, Cena is just giving back to the next generation.
