The WWE Universe was shocked to witness Jey Uso lose his World Heavyweight Championship to Gunther this week. More than that, it was disheartening to see Jey lose in front of his son, with whom he had celebrated his win at WrestleMania 41. Jey is immensely over with the fans, so it was indeed a surprise to watch him drop the gold less than two months after winning it.
The fans could be in for another surprise soon, as there are rumors that WWE could be planning to get The Usos (Jimmy and Jey) back together. According to Cory Hays of BodySlam, the promotion could reunite Jimmy and Jey once again, and Jey losing his title could be in favor of such a booking.
However, the decision could be infuriating to a section of fans who had supported Jey in his singles run. The 'Yeet' chants could gradually disappear if The Usos start appearing together.
Therefore, in this listicle, we shall discuss three reasons why WWE shouldn't send Jey Uso back into the tag team division.
WWE failed to hide these secrets - Check them out!
#3. Jey Uso is too big a star to be sent back to the tag team division
Jey Uso has risen from being a tag team player to a singles superstar. The progress he made in the last two years as a singles superstar is inspiring for a lot of talent inside the locker room.
After coming out of the shadow of The Bloodline, he carved his own path in the Stamford-based promotion and made his way to the very top, capturing the biggest prize in the business.
WWE also made every possible effort to make him one of the biggest superstars, and his merchandise sales bear testimony to his popularity.
At this point, he is too big a superstar to be sent back to the tag team division. That can perhaps be done for a one-off special occasion, but there is no need to push him back there. He might have lost the title, but he still has massive support from his base.
#2. It will kill his growth as a solo superstar
Turning him back into a tag team player would be a self-goal for WWE, as that would kill all the efforts taken to make him an individual star. In essence, the company would gain nothing, and instead, it would dismantle its painstaking efforts of transforming Jey into a singles superstar.
And once that happens, there's no going back. It would be a death knell for his stardom, and would kill the Yeet movement which Jey has built. Moreover, Jimmy Uso would also gain nothing by getting back to the tag team division, as he is also making significant progress as an individual superstar on SmackDown.
#1. WWE no longer needs The Usos together after their separation
The Usos had been together for over a decade since their debut in 2009. They are eight-time WWE Tag Team Champions and no longer need tag gold to prove their worth. In the locker room, Jimmy and Jey Uso are now senior players, and there's no logic in pushing them as tag team partners.
Further, WWE also doesn't need The Usos in the tag division, as there are plenty of top-notch tag teams on both brands. On RAW, we have The New Day, War Raiders, The Creed Brothers, and The Judgment Day. Similarly, on SmackDown, we have The Motor City Machine Guns, The Street Profits, and DIY. Fans may also see Rey Fenix and Penta reunite as The Lucha Bros in WWE.
Therefore, there's no urgency or need for the reunification of The Usos at this point, as even managing them would be an uphill task for the creative team.
Jey Uso is performing well above expectations as a singles superstar, and instead of getting him back under the umbrella of The Usos, the promotion should focus on getting him involved in some other feud that can reap the success of his hard work.
