The first Royal Rumble was held in 1988. The main attraction of the PPV is the battle royal match where the participants eliminate each other from the ring, and the last surviving participant becomes the winner. As a result, the winner gets a title shot at Wrestlemania.

Royal Rumble is usually a 30-man battle royal match. Nevertheless, it was a 40-man battle royal match in 2011, and Alberto Del Rio won the match. Several elite superstars won Royal Rumble in the last 30 years and they made history at Wrestlemania. In fact, superstars like Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, Stone Cold, The Rock, The Undertaker, John Cena, and many more wrestlers have won the Royal Rumble match.

WWE introduced a women's Royal Rumble match last year, and Asuka won the match. Shinsuke Nakamura won the men's Royal Rumble match and faced AJ Styles at Wrestlemania 34. Numerous top-notch superstars are adept of winning the Royal Rumble match next year.

Drew McIntyre is undoubtedly a favourite candidate to win the Royal Rumble match next year. He had a remarkable match against Finn Balor at TLC, but he lost the match when Dolph Ziggler interfered. McIntyre has the necessary qualities to win the Royal Rumble match in January.

McIntyre's first WWE run was not impressive, and WWE released him in 2014. Subsequently, he earned a good reputation in the independent circuit and wrestled in different promotions. McIntyre made his WWE return in 2017 and won the NXT title. He made his main roster return this year, and he has become a top guy of the company.

McIntyre is likely to challenge the Universal champion. However, it will be interesting to see if Lesnar defeats Braun Strowman at Royal Rumble. McIntyre is certainly a believable superstar to pin Brock Lesnar.

Finn Balor is a leading candidate to win Royal Rumble. As a matter fact, Balor beat McIntyre at TLC, and the victory has set the momentum for him at Royal Rumble. Balor has not been in the title picture for over two years, and he might get his title shot after winning the Royal Rumble match.

Balor was a massive name in Japan, and WWE signed him in 2014. He had an astonishing start to his WWE career, and he became a big asset in NXT. He won the NXT title, and he was the longest NXT champion. He made his main roster debut in 2016, and he beat Roman Reigns on his debut night. He also became the first ever Universal champion. However, he had to relinquish the title due to an injury, and he has not received any big push after his return from the injury.

Balor is a mismatch against the Universal champion Brock Lesnar. But he can challenge the WWE champion and move to Smackdown Live. Finn Balor and Daniel Bryan are capable of stealing the show at Wrestlemania 35.

Seth Rollins is the best choice to win the Royal Rumble, and he is number one in this list. Rollins had a good match at TLC, but he lost his Intercontinental title against Dean Ambrose. Presently, Rollins is one of the best superstars of WWE, and he deserves to be the Universal champion which is the most prestigious title of the red brand.

Rollins's career has been spectacular, and he has attained plenty of success in WWE. Rollins was the first ever NXT champion. He made his main roster debut with the Shield and the stable achieved immense popularity.

However, his singles career is noteworthy, and he has won many titles. Rollins won the Intercontinental title twice, US title once, WWE title twice and tag team titles four times. As a matter of fact, he is a Grand Slam champion. He also won the Money in the Bank in 2014, but he has not won a Royal Rumble match.

Rollins already main-evented Wrestlemania 31 when he cashed in his Money in the Bank contract and won the WWE title. He can repeat the same feat if he wins the Royal Rumble and challenges the Universal champion
