3 Things that WWE got correct on RAW and 2 things that were mistakes

Bray Wyatt has made his return to WWE.
Bray Wyatt has made his return to WWE.

WWE presented the first Raw post Superstar Shakeup, looking to establish new feuds and title contenders. They had to present a show that could live up to the fans' expectations, especially now that WWE has lost a lot of star power since 'Mania. Ronda Rousey and Brock Lesnar have gone on hiatus. Nia Jax is out with an injury. Their biggest star Roman Reigns has been drafted to SmackDown.

In return, AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, The Miz, Cesaro, and The Usos have come to Raw. What does it mean? The new world order has been set.

In brief, Raw gave more hits than misses. In this article, we present 3 things that WWE got correct on Raw and 3 things that were mistakes.

Correct #1 Bray Wyatt's Firefly Fun House

We're really proud that you're our friend, and this is a friendship that'll never ever end.
We're really proud that you're our friend, and this is a friendship that'll never ever end.

We knew that those vignettes on Raw in recent weeks were for Bray Wyatt. We knew Wyatt would come back with a new gimmick. However, we had no idea that he'd come back as a children's show host. Wyatt made his comeback on RAW, introducing us to his 'Firefly Fun House', and his new friends.

Wyatt's new gimmick is the most exciting thing that WWE has presented in a long time. This was a change that Wyatt needed. His 'Eater of Worlds' gimmick had lost its charm.

Wyatt's new character has a lot of possibilities. He can be evil, continuing to pursue sinister ways. He definitely looked like a bad guy in a strange manner in his promo on Raw. On the other hand, he can also be a good guy in a disturbing way. WWE may present a battle between the demented guy living inside him and the friend which he wants to be. These are exciting times for being a Bray Wyatt fan.

Mistake #1 The Championship curse

The IIconics
The IIconics

The trend has continued. Mid-card champions always lose non-title matches on TV. Raw's action started with a solid triple-threat match featuring AJ Styles, Rey Mysterio, and Samoa Joe. The match had a predictable winner in AJ Styles. Also, it’s worth noting that the United States Champion, Samoa Joe took the pin.

In the next match, Naomi defeated Billie Kay from the IIconics, the Women’s Tag Team Champions, in quick fashion. The match ended before it started, as Naomi rolled up Kay for the victory. Last week, Finn Balor had lost to Andrade on Raw. On the other hand, IIconics had taken losses on both Raw and SmackDown.

It’s painfully obvious that WWE should seriously look into other ways of advancing feuds or putting over superstars than to have their champions lose to everyone. Champions and championships lose a lot of credibility by losing matches such as these. In the IIconics' case, the tag champions have not won anything since 'Mania. There's something really wrong about it.

Correct #2 Sami Zayn's ride

Sami Zayn
Sami Zayn

Sami Zayn has been on a roll ever since making a comeback on Raw after WrestleMania 35. He's been doing some fabulous mic-work, and he did the same on Monday.

Zayn came out dancing to his theme music, doing his usual mad antics. He continued his antics from previous weeks before holding the WWE Universe guilty for making the place toxic. Zayn has decided to hold us all accountable for our denial and negativity, informing us that he hasn't grown bitter; he is rather jubilant.

He showed all of us how happy he had been during his time away from WWE, bringing out pictures from his 10-month hiatus. To be honest, some of the pictures were cute. And, he looked happy. It feels as if he says everything from the heart.

While Zayn's work has been incredible, WWE deserves credit for going ALL IN on the Superstar who had once been as sympathetic a babyface as any in WWE.

Mistake #2 AJ Styles vs. Seth Rollins at Money in the Bank

The dream match is on!
The dream match is on!

Is it a mistake? Technically, no. Seth Rollins and AJ Styles are two great athletes who are capable of putting on 5-star matches together. This is a dream feud all of us had been waiting to see. Then, why is it a mistake?

Well, AJ Styles and Seth Rollins are Raw’s biggest babyfaces at the moment. And this is why announcing Styles vs. Rollins for MITB is a mistake. With Brock Lesnar on hiatus and Roman Reigns’ move to SmackDown, WWE could have saved this epic first match for one of the Big 4 PPVs.

We know the Universal Championship scene doesn’t have too many intriguing matchups waiting to happen. Miz has to still prove a lot to become the most must-see babyface, and McIntyre, after his underwhelming loss to Reigns at ‘Mania, doesn’t feel too big anymore. So, WWE just cashed in on the most intriguing option.

However, McIntyre could have been built up to face Rollins until the time was right for this blockbuster feud. Perhaps, this feud will actually get Raw through some difficult times. But WWE has made it a habit to throw away some iconic feuds. We consider them… mistakes.

Correct #3 Cesaro

Cesaro
Cesaro

Sheamus is out with an injury. His absence post ‘Mania has received no explanation from WWE yet. And Sheamus’ tag team partner has now made a move to Raw. Unfortunately, it spells the end for the 5x Tag-Team Champions. However, this could be the start of something bigger for the Swiss Superman. The time is right as Raw definitely needs Cesaro's talent.

The split is unfortunate because WWE still needed The Bar, but it needs Cesaro more as a singles star on RAW.

While Cesaro has a ton of talent, WWE has never backed him as a singles star. However, this new start for Cesaro kicked off on a good note as he pinned Cedric Alexander in a one-on-one match.

The Swiss Superman has always made his desire to be a World Champion known to the WWE Universe. It’d be interesting to see if he finds the backing of the people in charge.
