3 Things WWE hinted on the SmackDown after Survivor Series (29 November 2019)

While RAW and NXT produced great episodes after Survivor Series, it was time for SmackDown to close the Thanksgiving weekend on a high note, delivering a good show. With a title match and a couple of interesting Firefly Fun House segments, SmackDown was certainly a coruscating episode this week.

The show began with Roman Reigns, who picked up a colossal victory for Team SmackDown at Survivor Series, remaining the sole survivor of the match. The Big Dog beat Robert Roode in a singles match this week. Sheamus, a four-time WWE Champion, returned after a gap of seven months, while Alexa Bliss and Elias also came back after a hiatus. Losing their Survivor Series matches, Bayley and Sasha Banks lashed out at the whole women's locker room of SmackDown, but Lacey Evans was quick to respond, knocking out Sasha Banks with a Woman's Right.

WWE hinted several things on the show this week, planting the seeds for TLC. Let's talk about three things WWE hinted this week.

#3 Lacey Evans will get a title shot against Bayley

There is no doubt that the SmackDown women's division let down Blue brand, losing both Survivor Series matches. Despite a valiant effort from Sasha Banks, the Blue brand failed to win the women's Survivor Series match. Bayley, the SmackDown Women's Champion, tapped out to Shayna Baszler in the main event.

Instead of taking the blame on themselves, Bayley and Sasha Banks held the whole SmackDown Women's locker room responsible for the dismal performance at Survivor Series. However, Lacey Evans, who was also part of Team SmackDown, didn't like Banks' words, and she came out to confront the duo. The Sassy Southern Belle left the ring after laying out The Boss.

The segment certainly hinted that Evans is Bayley's next opponent and could possibly challenge the SmackDown Women's Championship at TLC.

Evans is slowly turning face and she will gain momentum if the rivalry progresses in the next few weeks. Evans already had a lengthy feud for the RAW Women's Championship earlier this year, but she didn't succeed in capturing the gold.

#2 Sheamus will not reunite The Bar and he might target Shorty G

If Matt Hardy was the biggest return on RAW this week, the same can be said about Sheamus, who returned with his retro look on the Blue brand this week. The Celtic Warrior brought back his old hairstyle and facial hair and delivered an intense promo. Taking a jibe at the SmackDown roster, Sheamus sent a warning to the locker room of the Blue Brand.

Sheamus got injured after WrestleMania 35, and he was out of action for seven months. Sheamus and Cesaro were a tag-team earlier, and they dominated the tag division of WWE, winning the Tag Team Titles five times. Even though Cesaro is also part of SmackDown, Sheamus didn't take the name of the Swiss Cyborg during his backstage promo, hinting no intention of reuniting The Bar.

The Celtic Warrior mentioned the names of The Fiend, King Corbin, and Shorty G. While The Fiend and King Corbin have their own feuds now, Shorty G is without an opponent. Moreover, he was absent from SmackDown this week. Given Sheamus took the name of Shorty G in his promo, the latter could be his first target on SmackDown.

#1 Kofi Kingston might go after the Intercontinental Championship

The New Day represented SmackDown in a Triple Threat Tag Team Match at Survivor Series against The Undisputed Era and The Viking Raiders, but they couldn't get the job done for their brand. Kofi Kingston and Big E, the SmackDown Tag Team Champions, issued an open challenge this week, and it was answered by the unusual duo of Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura.

The bout was definitely one of the best matches of the night, with a couple of close calls. Although Sami Zayn tried assisting Cesaro and Nakamura, the challengers failed to take advantage of it. Connecting a vicious Trouble in Paradise, Kofi Kingston picked up the win for his team, pinning Cesaro.

The Revival, who dropped the SmackDown Tag Team Titles a couple of weeks ago to The New Day, wasn't present on SmackDown this week. With no credible challengers for the twin belts, the champions might not put their titles on the line at TLC. Nakamura, on the other hand, needs to defend his Intercontinental Championship at TLC, considering he didn't defend the belt in the past couple of PPVs.

Given Cesaro and Nakamura locked horns with The New Day this week it could mean that Kofi could be in line for a shot at the IC Championship. Holding the WWE Championship for six months, Kofi Kingston has established himself as a credible singles Superstar. With just two weeks left for TLC, WWE doesn't have much time to develop a new storyline for the Intercontinental Championship, and Kingston could be the one to challenge Nakamura at TLC.
