Robert knew Vince is going to fire him so he quit

If you watched this year’s WWE Hall of Fame then you would have noticed that Bret Hart mentioned Vince McMahon’s name many times during his promo. It wasn’t something fans cared about a lot but it was enough to make Vince furious.

“I think Bret mentioned Vince a bunch of times. Vince got really hot. I think somebody might have gotten fired. Then we went out and said it a million times and no one got fired. It’s not funny for the guy that ****ing lost his job.

I’m not kidding. No, I’m not. Vince was pissed. I understand. That’s a thing for him. It’s his company and people go out there and they do that.” (Source)

However, Robert later made it clear that he wasn’t fired from WWE because he quit it. He knew that Vince is going to fire him but before The Boss could take any action, the writer decided to resign from his position in WWE.
