4 final Triple H storylines we want to see

Triple H

As we know, Triple H isn't as active in the ring as he used to be. Triple H's focus is behind the scenes at WWE, and working on the NXT brand. When 'The Game' does lace up his boots, he makes sure it's the right match and storyline.

More recently, we've seen Triple H team up with his wife Stephanie McMahon to face Ronda Rousey and Kurt Angle in a star studded mixed tag team action. His last match was in 2019 against his former Evolution buddy Randy Orton at WWE Super ShowDown in Saudi Arabia. 2020 was the first year Triple H had not wrestled at all since his career began.

If Triple H were to get back in the ring, or feature prominently in a storyline, it would have to be something that would be huge and get people talking. That being said, let's take a look at the four final Triple H storylines we want to see.

#4. Triple H officially taking over WWE

It has been widely confirmed that Vince McMahon will be on the WWE throne until the day he passes. On-screen, Triple H is known to be the COO (Chief Operating Officer) but not officially the man in-charge. What if there became a time, on-screen, that Triple H was to take full control of WWE, and major changes were made to the product? It could happen.

It would certainly shake things up and send WWE in a completely different direction. Of course, it would be far from the The Authority days, but this could be something that could rejuvenate the whole product. It is also worth noting WWE may need to elevate further, especially with rival All Elite Wrestling seemingly growing at a rapid rate.

Triple H has been leading the NXT brand for some years now, and his control has been widely praised. NXT went from doing shows at Full Sail University to eventually selling out arenas.

Triple H's philosophy works. If that was to be let loose on the main roster, even if it was just on-screen with him calling the shots in that manner, then we'd be all for it.

Of course, WWE would have to answer to shareholders, sponsors, stockholders and a whole plethora of people. A new direction with Triple H as the 'Chairman' of the company would be cause for some interesting conversations, with Vince still in-charge behind the scenes.

#3. A Triple H retirement tour

How cool would this be? Triple H is competing every other week against today's superstars, and those who he has coached through NXT. From names like Finn Balor and Kevin Owens to Pete Dunne, Johnny Gargano and Keith Lee. The list of names is endless.

He could face a superstar on Monday Night RAW, then on SmackDown, then on NXT. He could even have a culminating match at WrestleMania, which could be his official retirement for a monumental farewell.

It could also coincide with an induction into the WWE Hall of Fame to celebrate his career. Heck, maybe he could even come out to his old 'My Time' theme for some nostalgia. He could really have some fun with it.

Triple H has already described how he'd like his retirement tour to go when he was interviewed by SportsNation:

"What I would love to do is, at some point, wrestle at the Garden. A couple weeks later wrestle in Chicago at the All State. Wrestle Staples (Center) one more time. Go to Japan and wrestle there. Go to the O2 in the UK and the Hydro in Glasgow. Make one more trip to those places that stuck out in my career and do that. Because to me, Mania and all those things were so cool and so epic. But on the road, the comradery, the different arenas and locations, the fans. To go into them and having those moments where you go to those places." (h/t Wrestling INC.)

#2. Triple H leading NXT against WWE

Triple H could change the course of WWE's storylines. We all love gang warfare involving different companies and different brands. What if NXT came together, including their former stars, and took on the very best of WWE?

It could even culminate in the WarGames match, now specialized by NXT, on let's say a Survivor Series pay-per-view event. Of course, we have seen NXT be a part of Survivor Series before, but this could take it to another level.

Triple H could lead his NXT brand featuring Finn Balor, Karrion Kross and even get Baron Corbin back on board to free him from his slump. They could go toe-to-toe with WWE's best. It could make for some interesting scenarios, especially for stars like Seth Rollins who may feel more of a pull towards WWE than his old NXT stomping grounds.

The storyline could see Triple H frustrated that he has no control on the main roster, so he rallies his NXT troops past and present. He could be determined to show that NXT has created some of WWE's best stars including Roman Reigns and Kevin Owens, and that NXT is superior.

Or that WWE has failed some of his NXT stars on the main roster. It could be Triple H's way of forcing Vince McMahon's hand to give him control. The possibilities are endless but it would certainly get everyone pumped up.

#1. Triple H vs. AJ Styles at WrestleMania

The WWE Universe has been calling for this Triple H dream match ever since AJ Styles joined WWE. Of course, both men are a little older now, but they would certainly still be able to put on a classic with a fascinating storyline.

It could easily be said in the storyline that WWE didn't want to sign AJ Styles and that Triple H made that call back in the day. AJ Styles was hot back during the mid-2000's when he was with TNA/IMPACT Wrestling. Triple H was already famously known for 'having the pen' backstage in WWE during that same period.

The story could essentially write itself. AJ could respond by saying Triple H feared him and that he would take his spot.

Come on WWE, give us this dream match. Triple H confirmed that AJ Styles had been pestering him for the match on an NXT media call:

"He pestered me with it every time I saw him. He would ask me about it and asked me about my schedule. I’ve said it before, getting ready WrestleMania is a different thing, and the older you get, the harder it gets. Doing this once a year, once every couple of years, especially now, is not an easy task. You try to stay in the best shape you can, but that’s not WrestleMania shape, and it’s a different thing. So when he very first came to me, I said, ‘Man, I’m not going to tell you. To be honest with you, personally, I’d love to work with you. At this point, you can carry me to something.’ I’d love it, and so the personal side of it, the athlete side of it to the performer side of it would love nothing more." (h/t Wrestling INC.)
