4 potential feuds for CM Punk should he return to WWE

Once again, there are rampant rumors about CM Punk's return to WWE. A month ago, it was speculated that he would do the "WWE Backstage" show on Fox and that he had a tryout. Whether that becomes a reality remains to be seen. In a recent interview with Ariel Helwani, HHH mentioned "never say never" regarding CM Punk's return.

This had lead to even more speculation from fans worldwide. If Punk does return to in-ring action, this is a good time to do it. He's 41 years old and doesn't have many more years left to be able to wrestle well. Therefore, if he returns now, he would still have a few good years before hanging up his boots.

There are several Superstars on the current roster who can be in great feuds with him. CM Punk left the WWE just when big names from the indies were beginning to make their way to WWE, and therefore, we missed out on a lot of great feuds.

With that said, let's look at four possible feuds for CM Punk if he returns to WWE.

#4. Seth Rollins

Seth Rollins

Seth Rollins has been one of the main faces of WWE for a long time. 'The Architect' is someone who will carry the company into the future and be the standard-bearer. Lately, however, he's not been appreciated by the fans, who are beginning to turn on him. It's even possible this may lead to a heel turn for Seth Rollins. Regardless of the role he is in, Punk would be a great opponent for him.

Their styles complement each other. Something that fans may forget about Punk is his storytelling ability when he's wrestling. There is no doubt that he can hold his own against Rollins, and he's one of the best on the mic. Rollins has grown a lot since their last meeting, so it would be interesting to see the dynamic between them.

Rollins has gone on record to say that he's thankful for what Punk did in WWE, which can be used to propel the story. It's worth noting that before Punk left the company, fans wanted a feud between the two. It's been on people's minds ever since. So, it would only make sense , if Punk ever were to rerturn, to put 'The Best in the World' and the Universal Champion against each other.

#3 AJ Styles

CM Punk and AJ Styles had a brief feud in Ring of Honor during the early 2000s. Since then, they have gone their separate ways as AJ became the face of TNA while Punk eventually reached the top of WWE. For years, fans wanted a match between them, but it never was meant to be as AJ made his WWE debut two years after Punk had quit.

Therefore, if Punk returns, AJ should be one of his first feuds. Both men are great inside the ring and have enough prowess on the mic to put on an entertaining feud. It's a smark dream to see an extensive feud between these two guys, and casual fans are fond of them as well. So, it is sure to be received well by the fanbase.

Things would have been undoubtedly better if both men were in their prime, but the ship has sailed on that. However, it should still be a great rivalry.

#2 Kevin Owens

A lot of people say Kevin Owens is the closest thing in the current WWE roster to CM Punk; if not in terms of their in-ring style, then definitely in terms of the similarities in mannerisms and character. Both guys can play the role of babyface and heel; they're both very honest and brutal; we've seen them both cut great promos, which had the crowds involved. Simply put, a feud between Punk and Owens is a must-see and will be entertaining.

To propel the feud, WWE would have Punk acknowledge all of the wrestlers in WWE who made a transition from the indies and mention that he was one of the first to do so. Owens can interrupt him and acknowledge all of Punk's contributions to WWE, but then throw them all down the drain by stating that he quit.

Owens can bring up the fact that Punk's not needed anymore in WWE, which will set the tone for the whole feud. It will be electric and a great way to bring Punk back to the fold.

HHH

This is probably inevitable. HHH is indeed getting up there in years - but so is Punk. Still, there's potential to draw a lot of money from having these two guys feud against each other.

After Punk left WWE, he's made several remarks about the way HHH handled business in the company - and none of it was very complimentary. On the other hand, HHH's wife Stephanie McMahon has used every opportunity to take a shot at Punk, especially live on TV.

It's also worth remembering that they already had a feud in 2011 when Punk was a red hot commodity. HHH won the feud, and to this day, he's disliked by some wrestling fans for choosing to kill some of Punk's momentum. A lot of references can be made to the past if they were to butt heads onec again, and it's sure to feel realistic.

It's even worthy of a spot at WrestleMania - especially since that was the rumored match Punk was supposed to have at that very same event the year punk left WWE. However, there is no doubt that, this time, Punk should be the winner. A victory for HHH would render this pointless, and besides that, it is unlikely that Punk would agree to lose this match. The fans would probably not take well to it, either.

At the end of the day, this feud will get people to talk and needs to happen should Punk return.
