4 Predictions for WWE in August 2019

What does the month of August have in store for Vince McMahon and his billion-dollar company?
What does the month of August have in store for Vince McMahon and his billion-dollar company?

The month of July had its highs and lows. However, it was not a bad month for WWE. While Extreme Rules faired well from the viewership point of view, the special Raw Reunion saw WWE stacking up the highest viewership of 2019.

Also, with the likes of Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff calling shots on Raw and SmackDown respectively, there has been a positive change in the past few weeks or so. Thus, what was headed to be another below-par month for WWE, given their dismal showing at the start of the month, ended up being an above-average month courtesy of some wise booking decisions.

However, it is all in the rearview mirror now as we are currently in the first week of August and WWE would like to carry on with the same momentum and intensity, given we are not that far away from SummerSlam 2019.

Given how things have unfolded in WWE recently (especially since the Raw Reunion), fans have high hopes from WWE in the month of August. While a few fresh feuds and storylines look all but guaranteed for this month, a few potential returns could also be on the cards for the latter part of this month.

So, without further ado, here are my four predictions for WWE in August 2019.

#4 Viewership takes a slight hit after SummerSlam 2019

Can this duo bring back WWE's lost mojo?
Can this duo bring back WWE's lost mojo?

Well, it's no hidden fact that viewership tends to increase during SummerSlam season, given it is one of the big four pay-per-views of WWE, probably the biggest after WrestleMania. However, it would be an uphill job for WWE to keep those periodic fans hooked to the product following SummerSlam.

Furthermore, the absence of a legit megastar who could draw people and sell arenas on their own is hurting WWE more than ever of late and the viewership taking a minimal hit could be on the cards after August 11.

Thus, the trio of Vince McMahon, Paul Heyman, and Eric Bischoff will have to pull up their socks as with increasing competition and dwindling viewership, a tough road lies ahead.

#3 Drew McIntyre turns face to feud with Brock Lesnar

Who's next for The Beast, Brock Lesnar?
Who's next for The Beast, Brock Lesnar?

The Beast is scheduled to defend the Universal Championship against Seth Rollins at SummerSlam 2019. However, Rollins getting a hold of the championship seems a very distant possibility.

I mean, as I have said it before, WWE crowning Brock Lesnar as the new Universal Champion just to lose it at the following pay-per-view would not make any sense. Trust WWE to have The Beast put over a younger talent in his current stint before dropping the title.

Well, one such name could be Drew McIntyre. Yes, this lad carried the entire industry on his shoulders along with Rollins in the absence of Roman and deserves a push more than anyone else.

Also, with Heyman calling shots on the red brand, McIntyre feuding with Lesnar seems to be on the cards after SummerSlam. Furthermore, given WWE's affinity with babyface vs heels storyline, a face turn for the Scottish Psychopath does not seem far-fetched. Who knows, he could show up at SummerSlam to save Rollins from Lesnar's wrath.

#2 Bray Wyatt squashes Finn Balor and takes out The Miz backstage at SummerSlam

Will it happen?
Will it happen?

Bray Wyatt is scheduled to clash with Finn Balor at SummerSlam on August 11. However, the result of this match seems a no brainer. While a win for Bray looks almost guaranteed, given Balor is scheduled to take a break after SummerSlam 2019, WWE could book a squash match to make Wyatt look insurmountable.

Nonetheless, what would be interesting to see is who will face Wyatt next? Personally, I would love to see Wyatt go against Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship. I mean, would it not be fun to see Lesnar pushed to his limits both physically and mentally? However, that seems a bit far fetched as The Miz could be the next challenger for The Fiend.

The Miz is scheduled to take on Dolph Ziggler at SummerSlam, however, rumor has it that The Miz is likely to be replaced by Bill Goldberg in that match. Thus, WWE could have The Fiend attack The Miz backstage to lay down the breadcrumbs for a classic feud.

#1 Randy Orton becomes the new WWE Champion at SummerSlam

Chances of Randy Orton dethroning Kofi are very high.
Chances of Randy Orton dethroning Kofi are very high.

Kofi Kingston is scheduled to defend his WWE Championship against Randy Orton at SummerSlam. However, I would not be surprised if Orton walks out as the new WWE champ on August 11.

l mean let's get this straight. Even though Kofi has been quite over among fans, his recent stint as the WWE champion is getting stale. And with WWE struggling with degrading viewership, plus, SmackDown moving to Fox in October, chances of Orton dethroning Kofi are quite high.

Thus, don't be shocked if you see KofiMania getting done and dusted at SummerSlam. On another note, it would be interesting to see how WWE goes on about doing the same. Who knows, a potential heel turn of Big E resulting in a loss for Kingston could also be in the plans for August 11.
