The 2025 WWE King of the Ring tournament has arrived. Fans weren't sure if the tournament would even be taking place this year since The King and Queen of the Ring Premium Live Event isn't happening. Thankfully, it is indeed still happening.
The announcement officially came on SmackDown last week. From there, the brackets were revealed on Monday. Notably, the 16-man field only featured 15 superstars, as there was also a mystery competitor that Adam Pearce had yet to reveal.
Fans were speculating on who it could have been. Some thought Roman Reigns could return, while others hoped to see Ilja Dragunov back in action. Instead, the RAW General Manager announced Jey Uso was taking that last spot.
This was arguably a major mistake by Triple H and World Wrestling Entertainment, especially if the plan is for Uso to win it all. Jey should not win the King of the Ring tournament and this article will look at a handful of reasons why.
WWE failed to hide these secrets - Check them out!
Below are four reasons why Jey Uso must not win the WWE King of the Ring.
#4. He was just world champion
Jey Uso shocked the world at WWE WrestleMania 41. He went one-on-one with Gunther in the opening bout, with the World Heavyweight Championship on the line, and nobody believed he could win.
Despite that, he did it. Jey shocked the world and won the World Heavyweight Championship. He then went on to successfully defend the gold against Logan Paul before losing the title to Gunther on WWE RAW last week.
Given that Jey just held the title, he doesn't need to win the King of the Ring tournament, nor does he need a title shot so soon. It would be better for Jey and for fans of The Yeet Man to be given a break from the title. Otherwise, there may be some resentment towards Uso moving forward.
#3. Jey Uso would be a boring pick as winner
Jey Uso is absolutely fantastic, but truthfully, he would be incredibly boring as the winner of the 2025 WWE King of the Ring tournament. This has everything to do with his position on the card.
For a long time, Jey was an underdog. When he beat Roman Reigns in a tag team match, nobody saw that coming. When he won the Intercontinental Championship, fans were shocked. When Jey Uso won the 2025 Men's Royal Rumble Match, that was a surprise. Almost nobody expected The Yeet Master to do it.
Now, however, he's a favorite as soon as he enters a tournament or match. Jey is a bonafide main eventer. As a result, it would be dull and somewhat predictable if Jey becomes King of the Ring. It isn't as fun when the audience expects it.
#2. WWE doesn't need to book Jey Uso vs. Gunther again any time soon
As noted, Jey Uso just lost his prized World Heavyweight Championship. He battled Gunther on WWE RAW and lost the gold. Notably, this was not their first match together. In fact, they have had numerous singles matches over the past year.
Be it at Saturday Night's Main Event, WrestleMania, or on WWE Monday Night RAW, the two have routinely battled it out in the ring. They have also had numerous segments and promos together.
While some of their feud has been fantastic, other parts have been disappointing. Whether one has loved their rivalry or disliked it, if it continues any further, it will grow incredibly stale. Jey doesn't need to be King of the Ring and battle Gunther again. Keep these two apart for the time being.
#1. A different star could be elevated with a win
The final reason why Jey Uso shouldn't win the King of the Ring Tournament comes down to the fact that it could and should be used to elevate somebody else. Whoever wins the tournament will immediately get a big boost in WWE.
For example, Gunther was a former Intercontinental Champion prior to winning last year. Winning the 2024 King of the Ring led him to the World Heavyweight Title and the main event scene. Nia Jax winning the Queen of the Ring brought her to the WWE Women's Title for the first time since this iteration of the belt was created.
Someone like Bronson Reed, Sami Zayn, or even Rusev could benefit far more from a King of the Ring victory than Jey would. It could take a star in the mid-card and elevate them into becoming a bonafide main eventer. For that reason alone, Jey shouldn't win.
