Naomi will be the first challenger for Bayley's WWE Women's Championship. As announced, the title match will take place this Friday Night on SmackDown, just a couple of weeks after The Role Model defeated IYO SKY to become the champion on Night Two of WrestleMania 40.

Even though it took Bayley a long time to reclaim gold in her WWE career, it would also make sense for the creative team to have the 36-year-old star upset the reigning champion and win the Women's title this week.

With that in mind, let's take a look at four reasons why Naomi must become the new Women's Champion on the upcoming edition of SmackDown.

#4. Naomi needs a serious feud in singles competition

Since returning to WWE in January, Naomi appeared to have no direction regarding her singles run. In the build-up to WrestleMania 40, she teamed up with Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill to take on Damage CTRL. Still, the match at 'Mania revolved around Belair and Cargill's dominance.

Thus, it would make sense for WWE to have the 36-year-old star get involved in some serious feuds with the top names in the Women's Division. And what a better way it would be to do so than dethroning the reigning champion just a couple of weeks after her triumph at The Grandest Stage of Them All.

#3. Bayley getting tough challenges for her Women's Championship

With Charlotte Flair still out with injury, Rhea Ripley vacating the Women's World Championship also due to injury and Becky Lynch taking time off after WrestleMania 40, Bayley has been one of the few top female wrestlers in the Women's Division.

With that in mind, she needs to face tough challenges in her title reign, and the former TNA Knockouts World Champion could be one of them. At the moment, a few names on the SmackDown roster have shown they can become the face of the Women's Division.

These names are Bianca Belair, Jade Cargill, Bayley and Asuka, respectively. Still, Naomi has a great chance of showing she belongs at this level as well.

#2. WWE has to move on from Naomi's stint as WWE Tag Team Champion

Naomi's last stint as Tag Team Champion was turbulent, as she and Sasha Banks walked out of the company in May 2022 due to creative differences and vacated their titles. Thus, the promotion suspended them indefinitely, and both left WWE after a while.

The 36-year-old wrestler returned, so now WWE has a great chance of moving on from this incident and having fans forget what happened in 2022.

#1. WWE should push Naomi in singles competition for the first time in almost 7 years

It has been quite a few years since WWE last pushed the 36-year-old in singles competition. The first one was back in February 2017 when she won the SmackDown Women's Championship at Elimination Chamber but had to vacate the title after nine days due to a knee injury.

The second one was at WrestleMania 33 in April 2017, when she reclaimed the title, which she kept for four and a half months until SummerSlam in August 2017, when she lost to Natalya.

With that in mind, it will be a good time for the SmackDown star to re-emerge as a top wrestler in the Women's Division.
