WWE Friday Night SmackDown will air tonight, and it will feature the continuation of the King of the Ring Tournament. The tournament properly started on Monday and will feature two Fatal 4-Way Matches tonight.

One of the Fatal 4-Way Matches will see Cody Rhodes in action. The American Nightmare will take on Damian Priest, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Andrade in an opening-round match.

Many believe that Cody Rhodes will not only win the match but also win the entire tournament. A win earns him a world title opportunity at SummerSlam, and some suspect Rhodes vs. Cena II at the big event.

With that being said, Cody Rhodes has a lot of enemies, and many likely don't want to see him advance in the King of the Ring Tournament. This article will take a look at a handful of stars who could potentially cost The American Nightmare his match tonight.

Below are four superstars who could cost Cody Rhodes his WWE King of the Ring Tournament spot.

#4. Solo Sikoa could still hold a grudge against The American Nightmare

Solo Sikoa is one of the top stars on WWE SmackDown. The former North American Champion leads The New Bloodline alongside JC Mateo and the injured Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa.

The former Enforcer of The Bloodline had a rough night at WWE Money in the Bank. He was part of the Men's Money in the Bank Ladder Match. Not only was the bout physical, but Jacob Fatu finally turned on Solo and even put Sikoa through a ladder.

Solo likely wants to get away from Jacob, so he could shift his focus back to Cody. The two have feuded off and on for a few years now, even clashing at SummerSlam last year. If he still holds a grudge against Cody and wants to get away from Jacob, costing Rhodes the win could work.

#3. Logan Paul and Cody Rhodes have had issues over the years

Logan Paul is a hated WWE star. While fans in wrestling despise him, he is also one of the biggest stars in the industry. In fact, Logan is one of the biggest names in all of entertainment.

The Maverick was just involved in a major match at WWE Money in the Bank. He teamed up with John Cena to take on Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso. Unfortunately for Paul, his team failed to pick up the victory.

This isn't the first time Logan has lost to Cody Rhodes. The American Nightmare defeated Paul last year with the world title on the line. Given their past, it is certainly feasible that Logan will attempt to cost Cody the win on SmackDown. Plus, Paul is aligned with Cena, so he could do it for his partner.

#2. John Cena could try to make sure Cody Rhodes can't challenge him for gold

John Cena is one of the best to ever do it. He first joined the main roster in 2002 and has remained a big player in the 23 years since then. John is the record-breaking 17-time World Champion and currently holds the Undisputed WWE Title.

The Face That Runs The Place and Cody Rhodes have a brutal history. Cena, The Rock, and Travis Scott beat Cody down at Elimination Chamber Toronto. Cena then dethroned The American Nightmare at WrestleMania, albeit thanks to interference from Scott.

John only got by Cody thanks to interference, which means he likely realizes if they lock up again, he could lose his world title. As a result, he could attempt to cost The American Nightmare the win tonight to avoid a potential rematch.

#1. Kai Cenat isn't a WWE star, but he is a worldwide star

Kai Cenat is not a WWE performer, but he is unquestionably a superstar. Kai is one of the biggest media sensations today thanks to his work in streaming, content creation, and as an influencer in general.

The 23-year-old star recently went off on social media regarding Cody Rhodes mentioning his name. The American Nightmare mocked John Cena for going on Kai's stream, and Cenat was not happy about it, going as far as to threaten Cody over it.

There is a chance Kai could show up tonight to teach Cody a lesson and cost him the King of the Ring Tournament. He might pay the price if he tries to get physical with a WWE star, but in the short term, Kai would likely feel vindicated if he punished Rhodes for mentioning the streamer in a negative light.
