Earlier this week, there were reports that former WWE Champion Dean Ambrose, would be quitting the WWE following WrestleMania 35, and these rumours were confirmed by WWE ahead of SmackDown.

On the RAW after Royal Rumble, Ambrose hinted at announcing something in the ring, but was interrupted by Nia Jax, who then threw him out of the ring.

It has now emerged that Ambrose was offered a new contract by WWE, but he was interested in one as he is reportedly unhappy with the creative direction of his character on RAW.

Ambrose is said to have spoken to Vince McMahon and WWE management, and WWE then announced that he will be leaving in April.

This has come as a shock to many because just a few years ago, Ambrose was the top dog in the WWE as a singles wrestler, as well as part of The Shield.

But, what could Vince McMahon do to maybe convince Ambrose to stay with the WWE? We look at 4 things Vince McMahon can do to convince Dean Ambrose to stay:

#4 Creative direction

The reports have all suggested that Ambrose's decision to leave the WWE is due to his gimmick, which he seems to be unhappy about, and not having creative control on the direction that his gimmick can go.

Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer said that Ambrose wasn't a fan of "hokey things", as well as scripted interviews. “I know that he doesn’t like scripted interviews. He gets really mad when he’s doing hokey scripted interviews. I mean that’s well-known. So what he’s gonna do and everything like that you know he’s been pushed as a pretty big star,” said Meltzer.

WWE may be worried that he could go off the rails if given a free run to say things off the cuff, but a character like Ambrose deserves to be given some leeway on how he's going to get his message across.

His feud with Seth Rollins after he turned on his then tag team partner, was far too scripted, while some segments were cringey. WWE and Vince McMahon could maybe allow him to go off the script and cut promos on-the-go.

#3 Make him a babyface once again

Ambrose's run as a heel since his return from injury has been disappointing. He has mainly feuded with Rollins, and that rivalry fell flat, as it couldn't hit the heights that many believed it would.

The Lunatic Fringe needs to be a face, and a wrestler who is vying for the top title on RAW, just like his former Shield brother, Seth Rollins.

A face Ambrose pitted against the likes of Bobby Lashley or Drew McIntyre could be a thoroughly entertaining feud, and one that could maybe tempt him to stay with the WWE after all.

While Rollins goes after Brock Lesnar, his WrestleMania 35 opponent, Ambrose could very well be in the running for the Intercontinental title, this time as a babyface. With a little bit more freedom on the mic, Ambrose has the ability to get the crowd chanting his name no time.

#2 Move to SmackDown to become the top dog there

With SmackDown set to switch to Fox, they will need a few top stars, one of whom could be Dean Ambrose. The feuds at the top of the card over at SmackDown need some freshening up to make it a much more interesting product, and a switch to the blue brand could do a world of good for Ambrose.

A face-off between a babyface Ambrose against Daniel Bryan would be an interesting prospect on SmackDown with Ambrose's no-holds-barred, crazy personality contrasting the "New" Daniel Bryan's eco-warrior gimmick.

Perhaps we could see kayfabe and real-life come together with Ambrose demanding to leave RAW and switching over to SmackDown as he's tired of the lack of opportunities over on RAW.

SmackDown already have a great roster with several supremely talented Superstars, and Ambrose would make things even more exciting on the blue brand.

#1 Huge match at WrestleMania 35

Dean Ambrose has had a tough two years, having been sidelined for a long period of time due to injury, and then the breakup of The Shield which resulted in his underwhelming run as a heel.

Apart from the match against Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 32, Ambrose hasn't had a big singles match at the Grandest Stage of Them All. A huge match at WrestleMania 35, against someone like Triple H, whom he teased a feud with on the RAW after Rumble, could perhaps change Ambrose's mind to stay in the WWE.

If Ambrose quitting WWE is a work by the WWE, we may very well see such a storyline unfold in the next few weeks, and we could maybe see a "Career vs Career" match, which would go well with the announcement of him leaving the WWE.

If a WrestleMania singles match against a legend cannot make Ambrose stay, then perhaps there can't be anything else that would change the mind of The Lunatic Fringe.
