As the second oldest active pay-per-view in WWE, Survivor Series has history, but a new feather was added to the prestigious event with the addition of WWE's developmental brand NXT. For the first time in WWE, three brands competed at Survivor Series, making the battle for brand supremacy a tri-brand contest. As a result, a number of Triple Threat matches took place this year.

It began on the SmackDown after Crown Jewel, when several NXT Superstars invaded the Blue Brand, owing to a flight delay in Saudi Arabia. Spearheaded by Adam Cole and The Undisputed Era, the Black and Yellow brand shocked the system, invading the next RAW as well, setting up several matches for Survivor Series.

While NXT's addition turned heads at Survivor Series, their performance certainly shocked the WWE Universe, considering the developmental brand won the battle for brand supremacy in its very first attempt. Securing four wins at Survivor Series, NXT was victorious by a significant margin. Not only did the victory enable NXT to garner the attention of fans who don't follow the product, but also allowed to the brand to take a step forward in the Wednesday Night War with AEW.
