To captivate an audience with a simple use of mic is a rare thing. However, promo skills are a must-have in the world of WWE. Any superstar who has made it big in the last decade or two has one common attribute - Using the microphone effectively. Better the mic skills, better are the chances of making it to the top.

Wrestlers like John Cena, CM Punk, and The Miz have always had the gift of gab. They know how to walk the walk, and more importantly talk the talk. But they have been around for the past 12-15 years. Today the new breed of superstars is equally good at cutting promos and they have separated themselves from the rest by doing this one thing - delivering an entertaining and engaging promo.

Here are five such superstars.

#5 Bray Wyatt

The Eater of Worlds
The Eater of Worlds

There is no one on the roster who can narrate a story better than Bray Wyatt. The booking has always let him down but his mic skills are the only saving grace of his unique character. His promos are crisp, and his story-telling is true to his character. Here is an example of his promo that he cut against John Cena.

“John Cena tells all of you that I am a monster, and he is right. I am a monster, and oh how cruel I can be. He would also have you believe that my message, my honorable message, is nothing but lies and that I only wish to watch the world burn. I have to give it to you, John, you’re right again.
I do wish to watch this world burn. I wish to watch it burn as a farmer watches his spoiled crops burn so they may rise up again. This world must be burned down so that it can be reborn. And it will be reborn in my image, the image of Wyatt.” – Monday Night Raw, May 5, 2014.

His promos are crisp, and his story-telling is true to his character. And because he writes his own promos and crafts his persona, they seem so genuine. He was probably the most over heel around a year ago. After being drafted to Monday Night Raw, Wyatt lost his push. His mic skills are as great as ever and WWE needs to bank on that so that he gets the attention he deserves.

#4 Sami Zayn

The Underdog
The Underdog

Sami Zayn is the most underrated performer in WWE. His promos are criminally undervalued. The one thing that gets him over more than anything else is the ability to be genuine and real. Not many people can connect like he does, on the mic. His work on the microphone is pure and comes from within.

The above two videos show two contrasting promos from Zayn. He delivered both of them equally good, one as a babyface and other as a heel. He has improved his promo cutting skills drastically and deserves a long overdue title run. He is the complete package to be a fan favorite champion and his work on the mic, and in the ring are living proofs of that.

#3 Dolph Ziggler

The Showoff
The Showoff

Dolph Ziggler is one of the few superstars who can represent both heel and babyface characters with equal ease. His emotion while cutting a promo is absolutely incredible. Ziggler's always been a decent mic worker when he gets intense and actually gives a damn. His passion for wrestling comes out through his words and gets the crowd support every time he delivers an honest and uncompromising promo.

Over the last two years, Ziggler has feuded against the likes of Dean Ambrose, The Miz, and Baron Corbin. Given the excellent in-ring performer that he is, his promos are always like an icing on the cake. He gets over the fans easily and is a must-watch superstar for years to come.

#2 Kevin Owens

The Prizefighter

Kevin Owens is gold on the microphone. His portrayal as a heel comes out perfectly viahis promos. His promos are not complex, just simple trash talk which is more than enough to hold the audience's attention. His promos against the likes of Sami Zayn, Chris Jericho and most recently Shane McMahon are pure vicious.

"What about jumping off the cell? Was that... 'look, Dad, look what I can do! I can jump off the cell! Look, Daddy, I can fall off really tall things and get back up. Look, Daddy, I can survive a helicopter crash.'
You know what, man? I'm going to be real honest with you right now: your entire family would have been better off if you hadn't survived that crash. Everyone. Your dad, your wife, and especially your kids." - SmackDown Live, September 5, 2017

This was just one of his hard-hitting promos against Shane O-Mac. Not many people have the guts to pull off something like this, do they? Cocky, brash, and impudent are the words that KO lives by. He is the perfect example of how a villain is represented, and his promos are a testament to that.

#1 Alexa Bliss

Five feet of fury
Five Feet of Fury

How many people can shut the "What!" chants of the WWE Universe? Alexa Bliss has, twice. Bliss is the best mic worker in WWE today. Period. Ever since winning the Raw Women's Championship, she has become the face of the women's division. Also, the first woman to have won both the Raw and SmackDown Live Women's titles, she is so committed playing her "hateful cheerleader" character that everything she says seems real.

Bliss's sarcastic wit after winning the Elimination Chamber match was the latest instance when she delivered a stellar promo. She controlled the crowd masterfully by teasing a babyface turn and then returning instantly to her heelish ways which is what she does best. She went from fans chanting "You deserve it" to booing her in a matter of seconds.

With her arrogant character played to perfection, Bliss is one of the brightest stars on the Raw roster, and if booked properly, WWE might just have hit the jackpot.
