5 Big Fat Weddings in WWE History

Rusev and Lana got married 2 days back in Malibu

After the wedding of WWE United States Champion Rusev and his ravishing Russian (actually American) partner Lana, this Friday night, the internet exploded with congratulations and accolades (not the wrestling hold) for the couple, coupled with jokes about the wedding night (Rusev Crush!) and even some broken hearts.

At Sportskeeda, we too wish this couple all the best, and many Bulgarian Brute babies. On this glorious eve, we look back at the 5 hottest weddings that changed the landscape of the WWE forever.

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the 5 Most Big Fat Weddings in WWE History.

#5 Daniel Bryan and Brie Bella

She said ‘Yes!’

Soon after a historic Wrestlemania XXX Main Event, Daniel Bryan got married to his girlfriend of 3 years, Brie Bella in front of friends, family and fellow wrestlers in Sedona, Arizona.

One of the favourite couples in the WWE, the ‘Yes’ pair had previously announced their engagement in September 2013. Due to tragic circumstances and the damage that his body had suffered over the years, Daniel Bryan retired from active in-ring competition in 2016.

Soon after, Brie would also announce her semi-retirement from in-ring action. We hope that this ‘Yes Lock’ never breaks, and they live in blissful matrimony for a long time.

#4 The Undertaker and Michelle McCool

‘If you ever look at another woman again, you’ll be a Dead Man’

On June 26, 2010, Mark Calaway, otherwise known as The Undertaker’, one of the most pivotal figures in sports entertainment, tied the knot with the first ever Divas Champion, Michelle McCool.

The wedding took place in Houston Texas, and their first child, Kaia Faith Calaway was born on August 29, 2012. Most wrestling fans probably remember The Undertaker’s second wife, Sara, because of the on-screen angle between The Undertaker and Diamond Dallas Page, as well.

This couple separated in 2007, and The Undertaker eventually started a relationship with McCool. We wish this power couple the power to chokeslam every obstacle in their way to happiness.

#3 C.M Punk and AJ Lee

The Summer of ‘Love’

While C.M. Punk and A.J. Lee may be the favourite WWE couple for many wrestling fans, we can assure you that they're not Vince McMahon’s favourites.

They got married on June 13, 2014. AJ was previously in a relationship with her trainer, pro wrestling extraordinaire Jay Lethal. After being involved in on-screen angles, sparks began to fly between Punk and AJ Lee, and the inevitable happened.

This is a couple that the WWE Universe misses with all its heart and yearns to have back on screen. We wish them all the best and a love that will never ‘Go to Sleep’.

#2 Miss Elizabeth and Macho Man Randy Savage

Well, you know, we’re already married, oooh yeah!

Fans of the Golden Era of the WWE (then WWF) remember Miss Elizabeth and the Macho Man Randy Savage as the golden couple of the era. Who can forget their emotional reunion after the classic match between Savage and the Ultimate Warrior at Wrestlemania VII?

Indeed, there was not a dry eye in the arena that day.

The couple was also scheduled to be married on screen at Summerslam 1991. What most wrestling fans did not know is that they were already married, as far back as 1984. Ooh yeah. Rest in peace, Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth.

#1 Triple H and Stephanie McMahon

It's time to play the wedding game!

We know them as ‘The Authority’ and despise them from our very core.

But little did multiple time World Champion Triple H, and ‘the boss’ daughter’ Stephanie McMahon, know that their on-screen romance would develop into a wedding. They were married on screen in 2000, and in real life, in 2003.

Today, they have 3 daughters and we must admit, they have the right pedigree.
