#3 Was it the right decision to take the NXT Women’s Championship off Rhea Ripley?

Rhea Ripley was living the dream on NXT after moving from NXT UK where she was once the NXT UK Women’s Champion. The Superstar led Team NXT to victory at Survivor Series in the women’s elimination match and then defeated Shayna Baszler for the NXT Women’s Champion.

In about six months, Ripley became one of the biggest names in the industry as she was pulling all the right strings and doing all the right things to come across as one of WWE’s best champions. The young Superstar did not just stop there and challenged the 2020 Royal Rumble winner Charlotte Flair to a match at WrestleMania for the title.

However, WWE pulled the trigger on her at WrestleMania and awarded Flair the victory, taking the title off The Nightmare. While it makes sense that NXT wants a name like Flair on their brand to increase the pull factor and the ratings, was it the right move to take the title off Ripley when she was red hot?

The company could have moved Flair to NXT after the match anyway, claiming that she wanted to compete there after being impressed by Ripley. Will Ripley be able to recover from the loss, and what direction will she take now? Only time will tell if it was the right move to dethrone Ripley so early in her reign.
