5 botches, slip-ups, and outrageous moments from WWE Raw (November 13, 2017)

Survivor Series is this Sunday, so both the red and blue shows are in go-home mode. Developments from this show include Raw finalising both of their men's and women's 5-person teams, much to the chagrin of Kurt Angle's baby boy, Jason Jordan.

Triple H made a big return to take Jordan's spot, while a speculated return from Paige never happened. It was an interesting night for the way things were set up for Sunday and it also wasn't a show lacking with head-scratching moments.

The strangest element of this episode of Raw had to have been the Atlanta crowd, which accounted for a few of the oddest moments of the night. One of those involved a fan who got roughed up for getting a little too close to The Shield.

Another happened when a couple decided to share with one of the most romantic moments of their lives while the main event for Sunday's pay-per-view was being hyped up. Paul Heyman let them have it in an outrageous highlight that kicks off this countdown.

#5 Paul's not impressed by the nuptials

It takes a couple of hardcore pro-wrestling fans to think that a proposal during a WWE live event is romantic. That's actually pretty cool if both parties love the sport that much.

However, it takes a truly special kind of audacity to think that getting down on one knee during a Paul Heyman monologue would warrant anything less than a verbal thrashing.

With Brock Lesnar by his side, Paul Heyman told the groom-to-be that she only said "Yes" because she'd never been that close to The Beast before. He also stated that interrupting his promo was like stepping into the ring with Brock: they didn't stand a chance.

It's safe to say that Lesnar's advocate probably won't be attending the upcoming ceremony. Maybe he'll at least send the couple a gift?

#4 Kurt vs. Kurt

Monday's Raw kicked off with Commissioner Stephanie McMahon doing what she does best - berating whoever is before her with roughly zero chance that they'll get any sort of comeuppance back on her. It's not the most entertaining formula, but we fans have learned to deal with it.

Making Kurt Angle stand there and take his lumps made her minor slip-up so much sweeter. While trying to tell Kurt that he's only a shell of his former self, she inadvertently mocked the idea that Kurt will wrestle Kurt one-on-one.

Obviously, she meant to say Shane's name in there but since she verbally castrated Angle for what felt like forever, this mistake will be revelled in.

Later in this segment, The Shield came out to defend Kurt as well as save him from being fired. They're nice guys like that.

#3 Jordan isn't a babyface

Hey look, it's Bray Wyatt and he's back. The last time we saw him, he embraced the Sister Abigail alter ego before what should've been a complete odd matchup against pumpkin Finn Balor. It appears WWE chose to ignore all of that for the moment. Let's hope they never revisit that again.

The outrageous moment here came from Booker T after The Eater of Worlds launched a post-match attack against Jason Jordan. He slammed his leg around the ring post, which earned uproarious "Thank you, Wyatt!" chants from the crowd. Booker responded to the audience by saying, "You know, these fans are not being too kind right now!"

If there ever was a moment that the announcers were simply relaying the words that Vince was telling them to say, this had to have been one of them. Atlanta even gave an ultra-rare cheer for Stephanie McMahon when she interrupted a tearful Jason with daddy Kurt.

That should undeniably scream to the writers that this long-lost son storyline isn't working.

#2 Breaking the ring

It's great that they keep thinking up cool monster spots for Braun Strowman to keep doing, but this one felt a few steps less cool than most of the things he's done. After a fairly bland main event brawl between The Monster Among Men and The Big Red Machine, Braun's running powerslam was enough to send Kane all the way down to Hell... or maybe just a few feet below the mat.

The announcers didn't say too much after the ring break spot. They did show a replay and the fans were on their feet, but it all felt like everyone was waiting for something else to happen.

Only nothing else did happen. The show abruptly ended and that was it. Since the match never officially started, there wasn't even a ring bell to signal that the ref had thrown this one out.

This wasn't a moment on the same level as Roman getting flipped while inside an ambulance nor was this as fun as when a superplex with Big Show collapsed the ring. These two were ready for war after TLC but this match, as decent as the spot was, mostly threw a bit of a wet towel on the feud.

#1 Warning: stay away from The Shield

Even though The Shield have been seen teaming with the likes of Kurt Angle and Triple H during Roman Reigns' absence, there are not actually recruiting any new members. This one fan in a blue shirt must not have gotten that memo because he appeared to try to join The Hounds of Justice during their signature entrance through the crowd.

The security guard earned his paycheck as he stopped the man from reaching the recently reunited faction. He might even be in contention for slam of the night because he took the man out right there at the top of the steps.

The Raw audience of this week featured this fan who got super close behind Dean Ambrose, a successful proposal, and some vicious rejections of Kurt Angle's son on a very rough night for him. Thanks for the memories, Atlanta.
