5 Dream WWE WrestleMania matches with The Undertaker we never got to see

Unfortunately, The Undertaker and Sting never really did lock horns

After what has been a career that will never be rivaled, The Undertaker rode off into the sunset at Survivor Series 2020. And while you never say never in WWE, it does seem like The Undertaker's career may finally be over and done for good.

At this juncture, one can only look back and celebrate the career that was, and thank The Undertaker for putting his body on the line for so many years for our entertainment.

And yet, there are so many dream WrestleMania matches that The Undertaker could have been a part of that we never actually got to see transpire. So, let's have a look at what could have been had father time not wrought his havoc upon The Undertaker's body and if he was still in peak condition.

Here are five dream WWE WrestleMania matches that The Undertaker never got to have.

#5 The Undertaker vs. Sting

Sting vs. The Undertaker will go down as the greatest match that never happened on a scale as big as WrestleMania, even though it has happened in WCW as a live event, back when Sting still had the bleach-blond look, and The Undertaker, well, wasn't The Undertaker yet.

Both men would adopt supernatural and dark gimmicks and become the anchors for their franchises in the years that follow and attain levels of superstardom that few can dream of, and earn respect and admiration from friends and colleagues.

You hardly hear anyone speak ill of The Undertaker, and the same is true for Sting, someone who has been an example of how to conduct himself outside the ring.

A clash between these two men could have been titanic, but alas, Sting arrived in WWE far too late.

But in the era of cinematic matches, who really knows, right?

#4 The Undertaker vs. Braun Strowman

Braun Strowman is just one of those WWE Superstars who would have been a top star in just about any era of the company because he stands tall and proud as the last of the giants in the current era. And one assumes that The Undertaker and Braun Strowman would have had a long and extended feud if the former was a full-time performer in today's roster.

We know how much The Undertaker loved working with Yokozuna in the 90s because, despite his size, the man could move. Braun Strowman may be his equal or even his superior if you account for the fact that the wrestlers of today have to work at a much faster pace than before.

If Braun Strowman vs. The Big Show was any indication, The Undertaker vs. Braun Strowman would have been just as good, if not better, either as a marquee WrestleMania match or even a gimmick match at WrestleMania, maybe inside Hell in a Cell.

Sadly, this is a match that never actually came to pass.

#3 The Undertaker vs. Abyss

Believe it or not, Abyss vs. The Undertaker nearly happened in the year 2006, when WWE had reached out to the big man in TNA, although he has no regrets about his decision not to come to WWE:

I'm not going to say I wish it would have happened. If it would have happened, obviously it would have been a career highlight, no doubt, but it wasn't in the cards.

What is truly funny is that, at this point in time, IMPACT Wrestling Hall of Famer Abyss works as a producer in WWE, and one assumes that if things were ideal, the monster would have been a fantastic opponent for The Undertaker. The Undertaker has mixed it up with several big men that could not work at all, and we know that Abyss certainly could.

One wonders, though, if Vince McMahon would have allowed Parks to wrestle The Undertaker as Abyss, considering that it wasn't his creation, and would have preferred the version of Parks we saw later in his career when he embraced a more comedic gimmick.

#2 The Undertaker vs. The Fiend

Now, this is a controversial pick, especially if you consider that Bray Wyatt vs. The Undertaker did happen at WrestleMania, and it was a pretty solid match too. And you would be justified in your assumption that other 'Supernaturally-inclined' personas such as Aleister Black's current gimmick or Finn Balor's Demon King avatar would have made worthy opponents for The Undertaker. But literally, everyone expected The Fiend to interrupt The Undertaker's final farewell following the tweet shared above.

Why The Fiend was picked for this list is because he is a completely different wrestler from the erstwhile Bray Wyatt, in much the same way that The Undertaker is different from Mean Mark or the Master of Pain, his former gimmicks.

The Fiend vs. The Undertaker could have been a fantastic moment where The Undertaker goes out on his back, as he would have wanted to go, considering that he is the last of the old-school. It could have been a passing of the torch, from one Supernatural gimmick to another, to round off a fantastic career in WWE.

#1 The Undertaker vs. Seth Rollins

Seth Rollins has been a top guy in the WWE roster for a very long period of time, and as he told Sportskeeda (click on the link above for more information), he has only spent a very limited amount of time in the ring with The Undertaker, and one wonders what could have been, especially in Seth Rollins' current avatar.

There have been so many versions of Seth Rollins over the years, and all of them could have had a fantastic clash with The Undertaker- from the cowardly weaselly man in The Authority to this current Messiah-inspired persona, to the period when he turned babyface and actually took down Brock Lesnar.

Even though Seth Rollins hasn't had the best reputation with regard to working with WWE legends (even though Sting has protested over the years that it wasn't Seth Rollins' fault), Rollins is one of the best in-ring workers ever and can take bumps galore to make anyone look good.

Rollins vs. The Undertaker is totally worthy of a WrestleMania dream match.
