Money in the Bank took over the Intuit Dome in California last night, and it seems that the whole night, WWE was building towards the return of R-Truth. The backlash from his departure last weekend has meant that the company made a complete U-turn on his release, and he returned at the premium live event to attack John Cena.
This was a huge moment, but ahead of this, there were several mistakes that were made throughout the event. The following list looks at just five.
#5. Was Seth Rollins the best choice for the Men's Money in the Bank?
Seth Rollins was the easy choice for Money in the Bank this year. It was clear that he was being pushed into a major storyline similar to Roman Reigns' back in 2020, and many fans were aware that he would be the one to take the contract.
There was a hope that one of the up-and-comers in the match who had never won a World Championship would be able to use the contract to push themselves to the next level, but instead, WWE pulled the trigger on the Solo Sikoa betrayal, and Rollins was able to walk out with the contract.
#4. John Cena is the only WWE star to appear at all WWE PLEs in 2025
WWE in 2025 has been inconsistent. There have been several releases and exits, as well as stars moving from brand to brand, and place to place, but it seems that the product itself has suffered. There have been more PLEs in recent months, but ahead of the show, it was revealed that the only star who has appeared at every PLE in 2025 is John Cena.
A man who walks away from WWE in less than seven months' time has become the most consistent performer, which means that when he is gone, there will be a much bigger hole to fill than WWE realises.
#3. What happened to Jade Cargill?
Naomi was perhaps the best choice in the Women's Money in the Bank ladder match, but there has already been some backlash because many believed it could have been one of the up-and-coming stars, such as Giulia or Stephanie Vaquer.
The confusing part about the match was the fact that Jade Cargill had been on Naomi's tail since her return from the attack earlier this year, and yet when she climbed the ladder to take the contract, she was nowhere to be seen.
#2. Why didn't Bayley return?
Bayley was attacked ahead of WrestleMania 41 by Becky Lynch, who then not only took her spot, but also won the Women's Tag Team Championship and then turned on Lyra Valkyria as well.
It was expected that Bayley would be at Money in the Bank to cost Becky Lynch the Women's Intercontinental Championship, but instead, she was able to win the title after a cheap rollup, and Valkyria then attacked Lynch after the match to prolong their feud.
#1. Where is Roman Reigns?
Roman Reigns hasn't been seen since the RAW after WrestleMania when he was attacked by Bron Breakker. There was a belief that, given the rules of the Money in the Bank ladder match, it would be the perfect time to bring him back and cost Seth Rollins a chance to become a two-time Money in the Bank winner.
Instead, Seth Rollins used the allowed interference to his advantage and was able to climb the ladder and retrieve that contract, which means he now has the chance to cash in on any World Champion in the next year.
It will be interesting to see what the plan actually is for Roman Reigns' return and if he will wait until SummerSlam again.
