What a moment this was.
What a moment this was.

Zack Ryder has been at the bottom of the card for such a long time that you would be forgiven for failing to remember his times as a singles champion in WWE. It is truly bizarre that Ryder is only a WWE Championship victory away from becoming a Grand Slam Champion. Along with two WWE Tag Team Championship reigns, eleven years apart from each other, with Curt Hawkins, the former Hype Bro has won both mid-card championships in WWE. Ryder became the United States Champion at the end of 2011, after gaining lots of steam with the internet fans. However, it did not end well for him.

Ryder was completely buried, after being inserted into the awful John Cena vs Kane feud and losing his title in the middle of it. He was saddled to the ground for years until a huge opportunity arose. An injury to Neville forced WWE to put Zack Ryder in the Intercontinental Championship ladder match at WrestleMania 32. And from out of nowhere, he won, shocking everybody watching in the most incredible way. Of course, Ryder lost his belt on the following night. But nobody can take his victory away from him. No matter how dire the aftermath was, Zack Ryder has held both the US and IC Championships.
