5 interesting things WWE should do at the Royal Rumble to please fans

What will the WWE Universe watch unfold at the 2019 Royal Rumble?
What will the WWE Universe watch unfold at the 2019 Royal Rumble?

The Royal Rumble pay per view.

While this is already one of the biggest pay per views of the entire year, the fact that WWE is supposed to be in the middle of a new era gives it an added sense of importance. Furthermore, it is a measuring stick by which the WWE can determine whether the company has made any progress and fulfilled on their promises or not.

Of course this doesn't mean that WWE should play it safe and give the fans want they want throughout the entire show, but there are certain thing the company needs to do in order to show that they are making improvements. They also need to show that they are committed to the future, and not just throwing ideas against the wall.

In the end, what WWE does at the Royal Rumble is of monumental importance. Not only due to how it will eventually shape the Road to WrestleMania 35, but also by how it will be a chance for WWE to really show fans they have changed.

With that said, here are 5 controversial things WWE must do at the Royal Rumble to please fans.

#5 Have Seth Rollins win the Royal Rumble

Will Seth Rollins burn it down and win the 2019 Royal Rumble?
Will Seth Rollins burn it down and win the 2019 Royal Rumble?

Drew McIntyre and Braun Strowman might be strong choices to win the 2019 Royal Rumble, but it's beyond obvious that anything less than Seth Rollins winning the match would be a disappointment to the WWE Universe.

Beyond that, it's obvious that no one has the momentum Rollins has right now, which is another reason why WWE should do it.

Think about it! Seth Rollins not winning the Royal Rumble after the year he had would probably yield the same reaction that Daniel Bryan losing in 2013 did. If nothing else, it would be proof that WWE isn't listening to the WWE Universe.

#4 Have the Undertaker appear

What role will the Undertaker play at the Royal Rumble?
What role will the Undertaker play at the Royal Rumble?

Its no secret that the Undertaker has a way of stealing the show, and that is exactly what the WWE should allow him do at Sunday's Royal Rumble pay per view. Whether that happens by him coming out as a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble match, or by confronting someone, WWE needs to use him in some kind of capacity.

Another thing the company needs to do is make sure the appearance doesn't seem meaningless, and that it at least gives a clue to who the Deadman will be facing at WrestleMania 35.

Beyond all that, they need to use the element of surprise and do this at the right moment to make sure the arena comes unglued during his appearance.

Maybe WWE does it during the WWE Championship match to set up a feud with AJ Styles at WrestleMania 35, or maybe he enters the Royal Rumble and feuds with someone else. Either way, WWE needs to do something impactful with the Deadman during the Royal Rumble, or risk leaving fans wanting more.

#3 Have a young star eliminate John Cena from the Royal Rumble

John Cena versus Lars Sullivan. Who wins?
John Cena versus Lars Sullivan. Who wins?

A lot has changed in The WWE over the past decade or so, but one thing that has always stayed the same is that a win over John Cena means something! Take the January 13 episode of Monday Night Raw for example, where Finn Balor pinned Cena clean and earned a chance to face Brock Lesnar for the Universal title.

Not only did that win instantaneously give Balor the credibility he has needed for a long time, it also went a long way in proving that Balor was indeed a threat to Lesnar's title. With that being said, and a win over the Cenation Leader having that kind of effect, why not do something similar between Cena and a young star at the Royal Rumble?

Think about it like this! Cena comes into the Royal Rumble and starts eliminating people left and right. He eliminates several top contenders until finally a young talent comes and takes him out! This way, the moment gets a huge pop from the fans, and it sets up Cena versus a young talent at WrestleMania 35.

#2 Have a confrontation between Ronda Rousey and Becky Lynch

The Royal Rumble would be the perfect time to reignite the feud between Ronda Rousey and Becky Lynch
The Royal Rumble would be the perfect time to reignite the feud between Ronda Rousey and Becky Lynch

What happens when The Baddest Woman On The Planet stands face to face with The Man? The WWE Universe has been hankering to know the answer ever since Becky Lynch and SmackDown Live invaded Monday Night Raw, and while the company did follow up on it by having Rousey cost Lynch the title at TLC, nothing else has happened.

With the Royal Rumble being the perfect time to reignite blockbuster feuds, why not have the two of them have some kind of confrontation at the pay per view? Maybe WWE can even have one interfere in the other's match, cause a brawl, and leave the fans wanting more?

If nothing else, this is one of the few guaranteed money makers WWE has right now. Beyond that, it is one of the only feuds the WWE Universe has explicitly said they want to see, and the company would be foolish not to listen to that.

Furthermore, they would be unwise not to make this match the main event of WrestleMania 35.

#1 Let Finn Balor win the Universal title

Will Finn Balor be the next Universal Champion?
Will Finn Balor be the next Universal Champion?

Lets be completely honest here.

Anything less than Finn Balor holding up the big red strap over a defeated Brock Lesnar is going to send the WWE Universe into a riot. While some might think WWE can mitigate the damage of another Universal title loss for Balor, the massive amount of fans chanting his name and dying for change in the WWE proves otherwise.

Believe it or not, its not all about Finn Balor though. In fact, WWE could have probably put any superstar against Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble, and fans would want the same result. Of course a lot of that has to do with how WWE has seemingly relied on Lesnar to carry the division over the years, and also by the fact that he has done so as a part time champion.

If nothing else, Sunday's Royal Rumble pay per view is a chance to finally change things and put things back on track. It is also a chance for WWE to right the wrong of holding Finn Balor back for so long, giving him the chance he has deserved for awhile now. In the end, it doesn't matter how it happens, it just matters that WWE finally does it!
