Even though Johnny Gargano and Drew McIntyre may have never crossed paths in NXT or the WWE entirely, the two men do have some achievements together in the past.

After being released by the WWE, McIntyre went to Evolve Wrestling where he fought his first match post-WWE as Drew Galloway. He instantly became the Evolve Champion after his first match and went on to defend his championship well.

At Mercury Rising 2015, Galloway defeated Johnny Gargano for the Dragon Gate USA Open the Freedom Gate Championship in a Title vs Title match, where he also retained the Evolve Championship to become Double Champion.

Later on, the two men joined forces in January 2016, as Galloway and Johnny Gargano entered a three-day tournament to crown the inaugural Evolve Tag Team Champions. At Evolve 55, Galloway and Gargano defeated Chris Hero and Tommy End to win the championship in the final. They lost the title soon after to Drew Gulak and Tracy Williams on 2 April after which Galloway went on a rant and attacked Gargano.

Galloway soon aligned himself with Ethan Carter III (EC3) to launch attacks on Gargano and his partner.

Even though all three top NXT wrestlers were involved in partnerships and feuds with each other before joining NXT, surprisingly their paths never crossed during their time in NXT.
