5 Matches Vince McMahon wants for WrestleMania 35

E

We're almost set to begin the road to WrestleMania and we'll be kicking off the most exciting period of the WWE calendar year! We'll begin to see rivalries set up at the Royal Rumble and heading forward as well.

Either way, there are already a whole bunch of rumoured matches, and frankly speaking, the card seems quite promising. It's not like WrestleMania 32 a few years ago, where WWE suffered a major injury plague.

Fingers crossed, no top superstar suffers an injury. It has the makings of being one of the best WrestleMania's in recent times. In fact, we very well could get a historic main event as well. Let's take a look at five matches Vince McMahon most probably has planned for WrestleMania 35!

#5. Ronda Rousey vs Becky Lynch vs Charlotte Flair

This match could be one of the most, if not the most historic matches in WrestleMania history. Many fans were always of the opinion that when women do eventually main event WrestleMania, it'll be a generation later, and not this soon.

However, with Ronda Rousey making a massive splash in 2018 and Becky Lynch gaining an unexpected amount of momentum, things have certainly changed for the better. Becky Lynch was supposed to face Rousey at Survivor Series, but a botch by Nia Jax on the go-home show concussed Lynch, forcing WWE to put Charlotte Flair in her place.

Charlotte's match with Rousey saw no actual conclusion to it, with that match rumoured to be the original WrestleMania 35 main event. However, Lynch seems to have seeped into the picture and it's most likely that we'll be seeing a triple threat between the three women main eventing WrestleMania.

It's certainly going to be interesting to see what happens, and this would undoubtedly be a deserving main event.

#4. AJ Styles vs Randy Orton

AJ Styles and Randy Orton have faced off before, and it was billed as the biggest match in SmackDown history. Orton won that match clean, and they teased the much-anticipated Phenomenal Forearm-to-RKO spot.

With Styles likely set to lose at the Royal Rumble to Daniel Bryan, it seems as though he's going to be out of the championship picture for a while. This means that his next biggest match on the blue brand would be none other than The Viper himself, Randy Orton.

The match was also reportedly rumoured for WrestleMania 33, but WWE chose the route of going with Bray Wyatt vs Randy Orton instead. While Styles vs Orton would be a match early on the WrestleMania card, there's no doubt that they could steal the show.

We may also finally see the long-awaited Phenomenal Forearm-to-RKO spot! However, that would probably mean that Orton would win, and fans wouldn't be happy with that!

#3. Seth Rollins vs Brock Lesnar

When Seth Rollins and Brock Lesnar met in 2015, things were very different. Seth Rollins was the cowardly heel who had taken Lesnar's WWE title at WrestleMania without actually pinning him!

In 2019, Lesnar is once again the Universal Champion, but Rollins is no cowardly heel. He's now one of the hottest babyfaces in the company and seems handpicked to be the man to succeed Roman Reigns on the top of the throne.

There's truly no better option than Seth Rollins, and with that being said, it seems like he's now set for a collision course with Lesnar at WrestleMania 35. It could very well be the night where The Kingslayer slays The Beast and gets a coronation of his own.

This is a vital match because it's going to determine the direction of WWE for the next year or so at least. Rollins needs to win.

#2. The Miz vs Shane McMahon

Admit it - The Best Tag Team in the World storyline has been thoroughly entertaining. While there was initial hesitation about the whole "WWE World Cup" tournament, the story it led to makes it ok in hindsight.

Sure, the fact that the World Cup was only filled with Americans didn't help. The fact that Shane McMahon came as a last minute replacement and won the tournament didn't help. However, it was a catalyst for The Miz's face turn, and this time around, he's got it right.

The Miz and Shane McMahon now find themselves in the tag team title picture, and whether they win it or not, the sad reality is that they won't be a unit come WrestleMania.

Shane McMahon is always in a featured WrestleMania match, and it's been that way since WrestleMania 32 when he returned to face The Undertaker. There's no doubt that The Miz will be turning on Shane, leading to a feud.

#1. John Cena vs Lars Sullivan

This is a match that nobody would have expected even a month ago. Lars Sullivan's debut has been pending for a while now, and there have been reports of him having nervous breakdowns backstage and other emotional issues.

However, given his stature and potential as a monster heel, WWE will want to capitalise on him as much as possible, and there's no way of giving more credibility than by having him face the former franchise player - John Cena.

Cena has done a great job over the last three years in putting over superstars. He's been completely unselfish, and in the first month of January, he managed to put over Becky Lynch on SmackDown Live and Finn Balor on RAW, giving both of them his full endorsement.

Don't be surprised if this match turns out to be a complete squash match. Sullivan may very well be the superstar that WWE looks to replace Brock Lesnar long-term.
