There's a lot of talk about Edge possibly returning at the Royal Rumble for a very special appearance. This talk was fueled by the fact that Edge delivered a spear to Elias at SummerSlam last year, which was the first 'physical' thing he's done in quite some time.

There is always a safe way to bring Edge into a Royal Rumble match and have him eliminated in such a manner that it doesn't hurt him. The fact that Randy Orton even mentioned him by name during a promo not very long ago has also set the rumor mills aflutter, with many believing that Edge could come back very soon indeed.

But for Edge to come in and not win the match would just make the fans very upset, I fear. It would just take away from the rest of the match, which I'm guessing will be very eventful indeed.

There's no point in bringing him for a spot if the response from the WWE Universe is negative because of the outcome I've outlined.
