5 NXT Wrestlers who could be behind the 'charging battery' vignettes

NXT's charging vignettes
NXT's charging vignettes

Last week's WWE NXT saw the arrival of a very simple charging battery vignette which seems to be building up towards some sort of debut or surprise for the black and gold brand.

This was one of two mysteries that NXT had teased, with the Diamond Mine vignettes teasing a new faction appearing for the show, who debuted this week revealing Roderick Strong as their leader.

The battery charging vignettes are still being teased, with the level of charge increasing at a rate that suggests all will be revealed in time for the Great American Bash in two weeks time.

But why wait for the reason behind the battery vignettes to be revealed when he could make it a bit more fun and guess which NXT Superstars are behind the tease so let's do that!

#5. Tegan Nox could be returning to NXT from injury

Tegan Nox | WWE

Tegan Nox was clearly earmarked for stardom in WWE and almost certainly would've made it there had it not been for the unfortunate event of two untimely injuries sidelining her for prolonged periods of time.

Tegan Nox was injured in September 2020, tearing her ACL for the second time, and it was announced that she'd be out of action for an indefinite amount of time. However, it's now roughly nine months since that injury and if Nox's recovery has gone well that means she could well be returning soon.

The theme of 'charging your batteries' also fits with Nox's recovery from injury and The Great American Bash would be a fitting return for Nox, as she became #1 Contender to the NXT Women's Championship on last year's show.

Nox is destined to become NXT Women's Champion and even RAW or SmackDown Woman's Champion if she can stay fit enough. Her return would certainly be a welcome one for WWE.

#4. Kona Reeves could return to NXT television after not being used for a while

Kona Reeves was a regular fixture in WWE NXT but then he just sort of faded into the background and suddenly everyone was wondering to themselves, 'I wonder where Kona Reeves has gone.'

Well, Reeves' current Twitter handle is just a question mark, and the WWE Superstar hasn't posted anything on his account since June 16th. The last thing he posted was this,

Could the charging battery be used to warn everyone that Kona Reeves is coming back to WWE television after over a year away to bring the 'change' that he has promised above?

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful did recently report that Kona Reeves has been off NXT television recovering from surgery and that he is now 'more than good to go' meaning a return might be imminent.

There's certainly a pocket of the WWE Universe who think Kona Reeves will be coming back to NXT when the battery is fully charged!

Would you like to see Kona Reeves return and do you think he's big enough for WWE to hype up in such a way?

#3. Is the 'next Brock Lesnar' Parker Boudreaux charging up to debut for NXT?

Parker Boudreaux
Parker Boudreaux

Parker Boudreaux was one of the standout names from WWE's recent set of Performance Center recruits. However, with the likes of Carmelo Hayes, Teya Valkyrie and even Elektra Lopez making NXT television appearances, many people are wondering where Boudreaux is.

It has been reported that he suffered an ankle injury but has been cleared to compete again on the 16th of June, meaning it should only be a matter of time before we see Boudreaux in action.

As a result, people are speculating that he could be the beneficiary of the charging vignettes. The Superstar who doesn't want to be the next Brock Lesnar, but rather the 'first Parker Boudreaux', could be making his NXT debut at Great American Bash.

Boudreaux has a unique appearance with his Brock Lesnar-esque physique. If he can master the in-ring work he could turn out to be one of WWE's best ever Performance Center recruits.

#2. Gigi Dolin could be due for a small re-debut in NXT?

Gigi Dolin, formerly known as Priscilla Kelly on the independent circuit, has already made her WWE NXT debut. She was part of the Women's Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament alongside fellow new WWE Performance Center recruit Cora Jade.

However, Dolin and Jade would lose in the first round of that tournament and then Dolin hasn't been seen since. That match was in March 2021, so Dolin has been off of NXT television for just over three months now.

Could WWE's charging vignettes be a way to re-debut Dolin outside of a randomly thrown together tag-team and introduce her as a singles star? Not many people are talking about Dolin as a possibility on social media, but I don't think she's a bad guess!

Alternatively, WWE could choose to use the charging vignette to bring back Dolin's tag team with Cora Jade with significantly more fanfare than they received when they were announced as participating in the tournament.

#1. Kay Lee Ray moves from NXT UK to NXT after losing her title

Kay Lee Ray

We've seen the likes of Imperium, Rhea Ripley, Toni Storm, Grizzled Young Veterans and Pete Dunne successfully make the transition from NXT UK to NXT in WWE. The charging battery could be an indicator that another Superstar is ready to do so.

That person is, of course, Kay Lee Ray. Lee Ray was the longest-reigning champion in WWE after holding the NXT UK Women's Championship for 649 days before losing it to Meiko Satomura.

Kay Lee Ray could remain in NXT UK to feud with the ample female talent that the brand has. However, there are those that feel her title loss is the perfect opportunity for her to follow fellow former NXT UK Women's Champions Rhea Ripley and Toni Storm to NXT.

Lee Ray is another name that not many people are suggesting could be behind the vignettes, although many do expect her to move from NXT UK. But she's certainly a big enough name to justify the weeks of teasers leading up to Great American Bash.
