Seth Rollins has many options when it comes to WrestleMania

Seth Rollins recently made his return to WWE programming after a two-month paternity leave. The Messiah wrapped up his storyline with The Mysterio Family before he took a break after last year's Survivor Series event.

WrestleMania is now less than five weeks away. There are currently just two matches officially announced: Roman Reigns will defend the Universal Championship against Royal Rumble winner Edge while fellow Rumble winner Bianca Belair will challenge Sasha Banks for the SmackDown Women's Championship.

Of course, if Daniel Bryan is victorious next weekend at Fastlane, it could be him facing Edge at WrestleMania instead.

Whilst these are the main storylines on SmackDown at present, Rollins has been slotted into the mid-card where he is yet to be given a match for Fastlane.

Rollins has been part of many huge WrestleMania moments over the years and is expected to be part of the show this year too. Hence, here are five potential matches for The Messiah.

#5. Seth Rollins vs former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Murphy

Murphy was once "saved" by Seth Rollins after multiple defeats at the hands of Aleister Black. The former WWE Cruiserweight Champion was taken under his wing and became one of his most loyal disciples. But in late 2020, Murphy turned his back on Rollins to join the Mysterio family.

Interestingly, WWE seems to have dropped that entire storyline and since Rollins made his return earlier this year, it has appeared Murphy wants to be recruited by The Messiah once again.

Murphy has tried to help Rollins in his current feud with Cesaro, but has been unable to gain momentum in his last two matches. At some point, it's thought that Murphy will get tired of Rollins and once again stand on the opposite side of the ring.

These two men have the ability to steal the show at WrestleMania if the company gives them the chance to go one-on-one once more.

#4. Seth Rollins vs WWE's Swiss Superman Cesaro

Seth Rollins and Cesaro are best friends outside the WWE ring. On screen, the two have put on some of the best matches in recent memory.

Since Rollins made his return to WWE, he has picked a fight with Cesaro. The beef is due to "The Swiss Superman" not liking the new vision that Rollins has for himself and the company.

The Messiah hasn't been able to gain much momentum in his feud with Cesaro. This past week on SmackDown, however, he sent a message when he attacked Cesaro mid-way through the latter's match with Murphy.

It's unclear if the two stars are set to collide at Fastlane next weekend or if WWE is saving the match between them for WrestleMania next month. Currently, there is no update on a potential card for WWE Fastlane.

#3. Seth Rollins vs WWE's Artist Shinsuke Nakamura

Shinsuke Nakamura has only recently joined the debate when it comes to an opponent for Seth Rollins at WWE's WrestleMania pay-per-view. This came after Smackdown on Friday night, when Seth Rollins attacked Cesaro mid-way through the match against Murphy.

After Rollins came through the curtain, Nakamura was waiting and the two men had a tense staredown. After all, Cesaro and Nakamura were once Tag Team Champions. Although they have recently gone their separate ways, it appears that the company has decided to have Nakamura watch his old friend's back.

Shinsuke Nakamura hasn't been used effectively over the past few months. A feud with someone of Seth Rollins' caliber could allow him to finally gain some much-needed recognition on SmackDown.

This recent segment could also be the WWE management setting up a match for Nakamura at Fastlane. This could, in turn, lead to another match between the two men at WrestleMania but with an added stipulation if Fastlane's match doesn't end clean.

#2. Seth Rollins could be entered into the WWE Intercontinental Championship multi-man match

Since Seth Rollins made his return to WWE SmackDown, he has been slotted into a mid-card feud with Cesaro. "The Swiss Superman", along with Murphy and Shinsuke Nakamura, could all be pulled into the Intercontinental Championship match at WrestleMania next month.

Big E is currently feuding with Apollo Crews and the two men are set to face off at Fastlane for the Intercontinental Championship. The Championship is then expected to be defended in a multi-man match at next month's WrestleMania event.

Traditionally, the Championship has been defended in a ladder match, but last year's COVID-19 restrictions meant that this wasn't allowed. However, it could make a return this year.

Pushing Rollins towards a mid-card Championship could help give the former World Champion some purpose on WWE programming moving forward. SmackDown has enough bodies to make up an eight-man ladder match and, given recent events on the blue brand, Rollins would be a decent addition to the match. He could perform alongside the likes of Murphy, Cesaro, Shinsuke Nakamura, Big E, Apollo Crews, Sami Zayn, and King Corbin.

Seth Rollins has targeted Cesaro since making his return to WWE programming back in February. Murphy has tried to help Rollins in recent weeks but it doesn't appear as though The Messiah is looking to recruit the former Cruiserweight Champion to his ranks again.

Given that Cesaro was the only star Rollins attacked during his match this week on SmackDown, it may be that Murphy and Rollins will be open to working together again in the future.

After Rollins attacked Cesaro, he encountered Shinsuke Nakamura, the former partner of "The Swiss Superman, backstage. It's likely that the current plan is for Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura to team together once again to take on Seth Rollins and Murphy.

This would allow all three men to be part of the WWE WrestleMania card. It would also further the story between Murphy and Rollins and the feud between The Messiah and Cesaro.
