#2 Setting up for the future

There are legitimate concerns about the future of WWE due to the lack of star power and the continued lack of logical booking. Establishing a believable performer as the central figure for building the future rivalries is one of the best ways to move forward.
The stage is already set for this to happen. Seth Rollins and AJ Styles are currently feuding over the Universal Championship, and are scheduled to face one another in a match at Money in the Bank, with the title on the line.
Both Styles and Rollins are fan favorites; so far, their feud has been booked well, with the fans invested in their segments. An added layer of hype is added due to the fact that they are two of the best in-ring talents in the entire world, and their match promises to be a true dream match - if given enough time.
There have been hints that Styles might cross over and become a heel, but as of yet, there is no villain in the narrative. Thus, it would be logical to introduce McIntyre into the fold, who already plays a psychopathic heel willing to do anything to get what he wants.
The proposed cash-in fits with McIntyre's character traits, and would add a new novel element to the top rivalry on the red brand.
