Mr. McMahon-ta Claus announced this week on RAW that the 16-time World Champion John Cena will be returning to WWE TV in the new year and all the fans are excited to see what the Creative team has in store for the Leader of Cenation.

John Cena has shifted his focus to movies now and has become a member of the part-time club who only makes appearances on the big PPVs and shows. Cena last wrestled a WWE match way back in the month of October in Melbourne, Australia where he teamed up with Bobby Lashley to defeat the team of Kevin Owens and Elias.

Surely, a lot of things have changed since then in the WWE and it would be intriguing to see Cena's booking in 2019. In my opinion, John should straight away challenge the WWE Champion of SD Live for a match at the Royal Rumble 2019 and here are the 5 reasons why this should happen -

#5 - SmackDown Live lacks a credible face superstar who can challenge Daniel Bryan

No, this guy just is not ready for this big push
No, this guy just is not ready for this big push

Well, let's start with one of the most basic reasons why John should enter the main event picture. SmackDown lacks credible faces who can match the level of Daniel Bryan. There's no doubt that the blue brand has legends in the form of Rey Mysterio and Jeff Hardy but the two are engaged in their own rivalries.

AJ Styles' feud with Bryan is exhausted and given the way the Miz has been booked since WWE Super Show Down, it is hard to imagine him in the WWE title picture. Mustafa Ali is being pushed to the moon now but we all know that he will never be able to defeat Bryan or even pose a threat to Bryan's title if given an opportunity at the Royal Rumble show.

#4 - Having John Cena in the WWE title feud can help the viewership of the blue brand sore higher

Remember the initial days of the brand split, when we all used to praise the "B" show for its storylines, match quality and the intense rivalries. Well, it has been nearly 2 years since that time period and SD Live is no longer the same show. While a number of reasons are responsible for the show's deterioration, one of the key reasons behind it John Cena's absence.

Even in the 2 appearances that Cena made on SD Live this year, he made sure that the product was more watchable and enjoyable. John Cena was, is and always will remain a big draw in the WWE and if the Creative team wants to bring back those high viewership numbers for SmackDown, Cena needs to be in the title feud.

#3 - The Heel Daniel Bryan can take this feud to a very personal level

The family feuds have always been fun to watch
The family feuds have always been fun to watch

WWE loves to book family feuds on WWE TV and the way they booked the Samoa Joe vs AJ Styles feud, I think they might be disappointed by themselves. Wendy Styles' character and role in that title feud was unclear which always used to confuse the fans. But, the creative team have a chance to learn their lesson and go all guns blazing in the Daniel Bryan vs John Cena feud.

The controversial relationship between John Cena and Nikki Bella is known by one and all and thus, the new Daniel Bryan can heat up this rivalry by involving the Bella twins. Also, this would help the WWE build a solid matchup in quick time as we are just 4 weeks away from Royal Rumble.

#2 - This could probably help Cena become a 17 time WWE Champion

One More time! One More time !
One More time! One More
time !

It is no secret that the WWE wanted John Cena to become the 17 time WWE Champion at last year's WrestleMania after he would have defeated Jinder Mahal (the then WWE Champion). But as we all know that plan was dropped and instead we got a John Cena vs the Undertaker match at WrestleMania 34.

To make Cena a 17-time champion is a thing that will always be in the creative team's minds and they would like to make the most of Cena's remaining time in the WWE by making him a 17 time WWE Champion. So, the only way they can do this right now is by inserting John Cena in a feud with Daniel Bryan and let him take the title from Bryan at the Royal Rumble PPV.

#1 - This feud will help in restoring the old prestige of the WWE Championship

How unimportant has the WWE title felt of late!
How unimportant has the WWE title felt of late!

The WWE Championship was supposed to be the most prestigious title in the entire WWE. But in the year 2018, the title failed to main event even a single PPV (excluding the SD Live exclusive Fastlane). Even RAW's mid-card title the Intercontinental Championship was chosen over the title in absence of the Universal Championship. A non-title match between Roman Reigns and Samoa Joe was allotted the main event position at Backlash.

At TLC, we saw the SmackDown Women's Championship match main event the show, which shows the devaluation of the WWE title in the year 2018. WWE should work on this in 2019 and restore the title's prestige. And they can start working on this right from the Royal Rumble show by having Cena and Bryan fight over the title.
