Maybe I'm reading too much into this situation but let's be honest for a minute. Charlotte Flair has held the Championship for a total of 8 times already, which is the most that any woman has. This essentially means that WWE believes in her more than they did in Trish Stratus. And Charlotte Flair is still very much in her prime, at this point in time.
I think that Vince McMahon wants Charlotte Flair to beat her father's 16-time World Champion record somewhere down the line. She's definitely the ideal candidate to do so because John Cena seems to have transitioned into a movie career. Charlotte Flair is still very much a loyal soldier for Vince McMahon.
Once, I even asked her if this is a goal of hers. She told me that she does not think about these things at all.
