In WWE, the importance of a Superstars' in-ring stature isn't the as emphasized on as one might think. It's the character work that will always take a front seat to in-ring ability. And Bray Wyatt doesn't just have a strong character - he has the best one in WWE.

Even if you look back to The Eater of Worlds and the eerie segments, he spoke allegorically, referring to different layers of his character. So make no mistake about it, The Fiend wasn't just some random creation in 2019 - it's something that was thought about long ago. It's only now that he's able to implement this new side of his character.

Vince McMahon knows that Wyatt is the best character in WWE and he probably doesn't want to ruin that. As it is, the previous edition of Wyatt, which was far mellower in hindsight, had a hot streak of his own and that wasn't really capitalized on minus a 40-day WWE Championship reign.

Protecting his character will be WWE's priority now, as it should be.
