5 Sensible decisions the WWE has to make during the upcoming draft

It is all but decided that Balor will debut during the draft

The upcoming draft on July 19 is a way for the WWE to take some sensible decisions and invigorate the product that has become kind of stale of late. If WWE misses out this opportunity then it would take one more year for a suitable time to appear to deal with these problems.

With the current product, there are few sensible decisions WWE has to make in order to keep the product fresh and exciting to watch. We all know that there are few stale things occurring in WWE right now and there are also few great things that are working in WWE right now. Keeping these in mind, it would be best for business if WWE utilizes the upcoming draft to keep things fresh.

Here are few such decisions that WWE should take.

#5 Split up Owens and Zayn

You can’t have them on the same brand and not expect them to rip each other’s throat apart

Though Zayn-Owens is an interesting combination to keep banking on, it is very evident that the feud is going to bore the WWE universe soon.

Let’s face it. Every week on Raw, Zayn and Owens are at each other’s throat in one form or another. The amazing performances these superstars put in to make it interesting day in and day out deserves standing ovation in my opinion. For the better part of this year, these men have been feuding and making it interesting too. The best part about this whole situation is that WWE has not even elevated the level of the feud.

But, like the old saying goes, all good things will end. If WWE doesn’t put an end to this, the repetition will put an end to this feud. With that being said, it is hard to imagine Zayn and Ownes in the same brand without going at each other’s throat.

On the other hand, by splitting them, WWE can ensure that the feud lives on. Both Superstars can grow independently without hindering the other’s progress on different brands. Later on, after two years or so, they could come face to face and renew their rivalry.

Imagine a Zayn vs Owens fight main eventing WrestleMania folks, that is what I am talking about. But, for that to happen, WWE has to split them up first.

#4 Elevate few of the midcarders to the upper midcard level

He needs a strong title run before moving to the next level

The real problem WWE is facing is that there are very few wrestlers they could bank upon to fill in the upper midcard level. Even the potential talents they have are stuck in the midcard level and are not elevated to the next level by WWE.

Talents like Cesaro, Owens and Zayn can stand their own in an upper midcard feud, but the problem is there aren’t enough opponents for them to feud with in that level (honestly, Jericho can only put over one talent at a time.)

With the brand split, WWE can split up talents and get them over separately. Right now, if Cesaro grabs a title, naturally Owens and Zayn has to challenge him. This leads to a situation where at least one of the talent gets stepped over. WWE can avoid this by splitting them up and grooming them separately.

#3 Give more air-time to the women

They need more air-time to establish themselves

The next major issue with WWE programming right now for me is the Women’s Revolution. WWE has been stating it repeatedly but has never taken any major steps in that direction. Honestly, in a 3-hour show, there is hardly 20 mins scheduled for Women’s division and I don’t know how WWE could proudly say that there is a revolution in the divison.

Even the quality of feuds is really low. Take Natalya-Lynch feud for example, WWE is treating it worse than it treats lower card talents and the fact that these two are two top tier performers makes me want to rip someone’s head off. WWE must know that they can't develop a feud with just backstage interviews and three-minute segments on television.

A feud needs time to gain some fire and WWE has failed to provide it for the performers. With the brand split, WWE must allocate more time for the women to showcase their talents and give them some on-air time to make their own mark. This is a must do for WWE.

Let’s hope WWE does it for all those talented performers’ sake.

#2 Keep the Demon away from The Club

The Club doesn’t need the Demon to remain strong now

Finn Balor is going to debut during the draft period. There is no denying that fact. But with Balor’s debut comes the major question, how will he be used?

Will Finn be a babyface or a heel?

Will Balor join his Bullet Club buddies or strike out on his own?

Balor is one of the top babyfaces in the company right now. Everyone knows him and everyone awaits him. This is a huge decision for WWE. However, it won’t matter how he is debuted, regardless of his role the WWE universe would cheer him. So, the best option is to debut him as a face and it won’t blend well if he is around The Club.

Moreover, Aj Styles and Balor are two great names and WWE would be doing them an injustice if both of them are in the same stable. Frankly, this is the only option WWE has is to keep The Demon away from the club and let him make his own mark in the WWE while The Club continues its shenanigans in the other brand.

And if WWE is planning on making Anderson and Gallows turn on Styles (you know that is going to happen down the line), then they can bring in the Demon and make Styles’ face turn seamlessly. This way, it is a win-win for both Styles and Balor.

#1 Keep the animosity between Ambrose/Stephanie and Owens/Shane going

This combination needs to be going

The WWE’s go to storyline is to make a face feud with an authority figure. The evil boss versus the adorable babyface is a card that if played right would benefit the brand in huge loads.

Ambrose-Stephanie combination has Austin-McMahon written all over it and WWE can do this by keeping them both together in the same brand. The level of chemistry these two exhibit is akin to Triple H-Bryan and Austin-McMahon. If history has taught us one thing, then it is that this would be a huge success if there is proper chemistry in it. And WWE has the recipe ready, all they need to do is to keep them in the same brand.

In contrast to that, Owens-Shane chemistry is also great. Only that it is a heel versus a babyface authority figure. If WWE plays this card right, then whichever brand these two are in will become The Kevin Owens Show. If WWE is hesitant to make a heel triumph over babyface ultimately, they can always do the double turn.

The amount of highlights that are potentially spilled in these two rivalries is something WWE needs to look into. And this might even differentiate one brand from the other in more sense than words.

Do you think WWE would do these things in the upcoming draft? Let us know in the comments.
