WWE can potentially be a dangerous place to work if you're a sports entertainer.

As a Superstar, you are expected to take countless bumps each and every night, as well as keep your body in peak physical condition.

And if that isn't tough enough for the men and women of the WWE locker-room, there is also the risk of a career-ending injury constantly looming over them.

Even if a Superstar is able to complete a match unharmed, they can often have brushes with serious injury, or even death if things go awry.

Here are five WWE close calls to serious injury, that could have been much, much worse.

5: Orton throws a Singh brother on his head

When Jinder Mahal challenged WWE Champion Randy Orton for the title at Backlash 2017, many fans were sure this would be a cake-walk for the Viper.

Mahal, who had only returned to the company the year prior, had almost always been a jobber in WWE but didn’t head into Backlash alone, enlisting the help of The Singh brothers.

As someone who has had his own henchman in Legacy, Orton knew just how big a threat the Singhs could be, and quickly took to work neutralizing the pair.

Unfortunately for Samir, this meant a release back Suplex from the Legend Killer onto the announce table.

A dangerous spot already, Orton over rotated the young star, as Samir landed straight on the top of his head, as even the usually stoic Viper couldn’t help but grimace at the sight.

Despite Samir being taken out of the equation, Mahal would have the last laugh, defeating Orton for the title in one of the biggest shockers in recent history.

4: Undertaker's suicide dive at WrestleMania 25

When Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker faced off at WrestleMania 25, the world was watching.

After having an iconic moment after iconic moment at the show of shows, The Heartbreak kid hoped to cement his legacy as the greatest of all time by handing the demon of Death Valley his first Mania loss.

As the momentum shifted constantly, both men found themselves pushing their bodies further, though in one instance, everything changed.

With Michaels on the outside of the ring, the Phenom hoped to seal his opponents face with a suicide dive, though Michaels moved out of the way.

With nowhere else to go, The Undertaker crashed down on the unfortunate cameraman Michaels had pulled in front of him, who faced the impossible task of catching the Deadman.

Landing badly on his neck, it was a miracle The Undertaker was still able to continue, and would eventually beat Shawn, going 17-0

3: Undertaker gets lit up by pyro

The Undertaker has always been known for having incredible entrances, which have become a crucial part in his mind games with his opponents.

But at Elimination Chamber 2010, The Deadman paid the price of such an epic entrance, when he made his way to the ring to enter the barbaric structure.

During his entrance, The Deadman was blasted with his own fire, with the Phenom’s jacket temporarily set on fire.

A consummate professional, Undertaker continued with his entrance, quickly getting out of the fire and entering the Elimination Chamber.

Despite the awful experience, The Phenom was able to compete but was handed water bottles by nearby referees when he wasn’t on camera.

After the match which saw Undertaker lose the World Heavyweight title to Chris Jericho, the Phenom was rightly ticked off, telling Vince McMahon “I better not ever see that guy again,”

Sure enough, the Pyrotechnician was fired by McMahon the next day.

2: Brock hurls a car door at the audience

When you’re an athletic beast like Brock Lesnar, it can be sometimes hard to determine your own strength.

And when you’re still fuming after being robbed of the WWE World Heavyweight, it’s a recipe for disaster.

This is exactly what happened in 2015, when Seth Rollins, who had cashed in Money in the bank to capture the gold at WrestleMania 31, tried to appease the Beast with a brand new car.

Instead of accepting the gift though, Lesnar absolutely demolished the vehicle, swinging at it wildly with a fire axe and smashing the windows.

In one moment of superhuman strength, the Beast even ripped off one of the doors and threw it to one side.

This being Lesnar though, the door ended up sailing into the crowd though thankfully avoided hitting what would have been the unluckiest member of the WWE Universe.

1: Randy Orton lands on a monitor

As the WWE entered WrestleMania 30, there was plenty of speculation on the main event.

Daniel Bryan had become one of WWE’s most beloved stars and was merely two matches away from becoming WWE World Champion.

Toppling Triple H earlier that night, the main event was now a triple threat bout, pitting Bryan against 2014’s Royal Rumble winner Batista, and reigning WWE World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton.

A huge main event, men gave their all, and during one moment, the two Evolution members teamed-up to take out Bryan on the outside.

As Batista set up Bryan for a Batista bomb on the announce table, Orton caught the Yes! Man in an RKO, but landed on one of the announcer's monitors.

A scary spot that led to Orton writhing in pain, the Viper was very lucky to avoid any serious back injuries.
