Payback is almost upon us. While some might write it off as a b-level show, there is potential to do something special here. In fact, there's a lot they can do with Roman Reigns versus The Fiend versus Braun Strowman for the Universal title and RETRIBUTION still lurking.

WWE needs something big in order to make this pay-per-view worth it for fans, which is why employing a surprise reveal from RETRIBUTION might just be the best option. It could even become one of the better pay-per-view events of the year if WWE does it in a meaningful way.

With that said, Payback is just a few days away. Here are five reasons WWE will reveal the identities of the faction at Payback.

#5. A reveal at Payback could be a way to introduce Roman Reigns versus Retribution

Let's play conspiracy theorist for a second. Think about what would happen if Retribution interrupted the Triple Threat Universal title match scheduled Payback. Not only would that create an excuse for Roman Reigns, The Fiend, or Braun Strowman to lose, it could also give Reigns a new target to work with.

Honestly, the WWE Universe has been upset that Roman Reigns returned to attack The Fiend at the conclusion of SummerSlam, which is why sicking RETRIBUTION on him could be a way to rectify that. It might even help to getfans legitimately excited about a feud between Roman Reigns and the new faction.

Payback would be the perfect time for RETRIBUTION to exact their revenge on the WWE, especially given the title of their pay-per-view. It would leave fans legitimately surprised. This might even give RETRIBUTION the jump over Reigns, which would be huge for the group.

#4. Revealing Retribution at Payback would give them some direction

Retribution revealing their identities at Payback would help move the story along.

WWE tried to paint RETRIBUTION as a group of outlaws hell-bent on payback for something that happened to them. However, they aren't doing a great job of progressing that narrative. Maybe that has to do with how many other things the company is juggling right now, which is why WWE should move RETRIBUTION forward in some meaningful way.

Now that Payback is only a handful of days away, why not use the pay-per-view as a way to fully introduce the faction? If nothing else, it will move the storyline forward, gives them some direction, and add incentive everyone want to watch Monday Night RAW.

In the end, WWE has tried to keep this storyline alive with random acts of chaos and disruption. They even dismantled the ring, but it hasn't really caught fans' attention. Furthermore, it's becoming repetitive and making fans want RETRIBUTION to just go away.

#3. WWE didn't reveal Retribution at SummerSlam

Could WWE be saving Retribution's big reveal for the Payback pay per view?
Could WWE be saving Retribution's big reveal for the Payback pay per view?

It was quite a surprise not to see RETRIBUTION make their presence known at SummerSlam. It really raises the question of whether the same will be true for Payback. While one could assume WWE is getting hot and cold with their new faction, what if the plan was to debut them at Payback all along?

Not only would this be a brilliant reveal and help pad out a second pay-per-view this month, but it would also go a long way to further the Retribution storyline. Keep in mind that Retribution's actions have gone on for over a month now with no real progress, which is why WWE need to reveal them at this point.

The fact that WWE didn't make this move at SummerSlam is telling. If nothing else, it tells us that WWE was either saving RETRIBUTION for Payback, which would be awesome, or they have given up completely. Fortunately for the WWE Universe, a lot of signs point to a big reveal happening at Payback

#2. Something big needs to happen at Payback

WWE might need Retribution to do some kind of big reveal at Payback.

Everyone thought WWE put themselves into a corner by scheduling Payback one week after SummerSlam, but what if it was all a part of the plan? In fact, what if the company has something amazing planned for the upcoming pay-per-view, Payback.

Honestly, fans might have written off Payback as a sort of rushed pay-per-view event, but the company could easily change that by using it to reveal who exactly RETRIBUTION is. It could also open a plethora of opportunities going forward and it may even help with some booking decisions, as well.

If nothing else, WWE needs to do something to make Payback memorable. Revealing the names of the members of RETRIBUTION would be a great way to do that. It could also be the start of a story that reveals what exactly RETRIBUTION is seeking revenge for and who they have their eyes set on.

#1. RETRIBUTION's reveal at Payback would give WWE momentum heading into the fall

A reveal by Retribution at Payback could be the boost that WWE needs heading into the fall.

It's no secret that WWE needs to do something special to prepare fans for the fall and a reveal at Payback would achieve just that. In fact, Payback feels like it needs a little something extra between Roman Reigns versus The Fiend versus Braun Strowman and a Women's tag team title match.

Unfortunately, fans are starting to get a little fed up with the company going back and forth with the faction. So, why not schedule their grand reveal at Payback? Furthermore, why not do it by having them interrupt one of the main titles matches to make a statement?

Maybe WWE could go further than that. What if WWE could get fans to outright despise RETRIBUTION by having them cost The Fiend his Universal title? At least that way, The Fiend can feud with them. Also, Roman Reigns can win without too much controversy and they can build towards Survivor Series.

As always, let us know your thoughts in the comments below. Tell us what you hope happens at the upcoming pay-per-view.
