The qualifiers for the World Cup Final were The Miz and Dolph Ziggler. However, in between the match, The Miz tweaked his leg and was unable to continue. Sensing this as a loss of SmackDown Live brand, the then Commissioner of the show, Shane McMahon, interjected himself in the match and pinned Dolph Ziggler to take home the trophy. Folks, It all started there.

In the aftermath, The Miz was seen convincing Shane McMahon to form a tag team. The Miz described Shane’s World Cup win a team effort and mentioned he is also equivalent half of “Best in the World.”

After some initial hiccups and a loss through the hands of some local competitors, Shane O'Mac decided to team up with The Miz.

The self-proclaimed “Best Team in the World” defeated “The Bar” at the Royal Rumble and became our new WWE Smackdown Tag Team champions.

Somewhere we all knew that the whole idea of putting Miz and Shane together is to eventually have them collide at the biggest stage of WWE, that obviously is Wrestlemania. Here, let us try to outline a road map that will lead us to The Miz versus Shane McMahon Wrestlemania match.

#5 The Miz and Shane McMahon successfully defending the Tag Team titles at Elimination Chamber

On the following show of Smackdown after Royal Rumble, The Usos become No. 1 contender's for the Tag Team titles after defeating The New Day, Heavy Machinery and The Bar.

The Usos will get their shot at Elimination Chamber which will happen at Toyota Centre, Texas on February 17. The Usos, as talented they are, will put up a tough fight to the Best Team in the World.

However, despite their showing, The Miz and Shane McMahon would prevail over and retain their titles.

This match will also sow the seeds of dissension between The Miz and Shane McMahon where McMahon will be seen doing the heavy work and The Miz will come into action in later part only to make a pinfall. This will show an angry McMahon questioning the doings of The Miz.

#4 Losing the titles on the next episode of SmackDown Live

Could Rusev and Nakamura tag team become a reality?

The Miz and Shane McMahon will celebrate their win at Elimination Chamber on the next show of SmackDown Live.

The Miz will try to take all the credit by mentioning that he got the pinfall win. A visibly unhappy Shane McMahon will tell The Miz that he was not there when Shane O'Mac was taking the beating from The Usos and was trying hard to stay in the match.

While both of them will be arguing, the newly formed tag team of Rusev and Shinsuke Nakamura will interrupt the proceedings and stake their claim for the championship.

The Miz after getting insulted by Rusev will agree to have Tag Team championship match right there. In the last moments, an overconfident Miz will tag himself in, to the displeasure of Shane and will quickly get pinned down by Shinsuke Nakamura.

The newly won pair will leave the ring, leaving a frustrated Shane McMahon and a knocked out Miz behind.

#3 Unsuccessful bid to win the title back at the WWE Fastlane pay-per-view

Frustration will start building soon
Frustration will start building soon

The Miz will persuade Shane McMahon to get them a rematch for the Tag Team championship.

A reluctant Shane finally agreeing with The Miz will make the match official at Fastlane. In between of build-up to the match, Shane warns The Miz that if they failed to win the titles back, he will be rethinking about aligning with The Miz again.

On March 10, Cleveland, Ohio will witness Rusev and Nakamura brutally assaulting Shane McMahon outside of the ring earlier in the match.

Soon Miz will also succumb to them, unable to put up the fight against both Rusev and Nakamura.

Despite the beating he took, Shane McMahon will make the save to break up the pinfall. McMahon will put up a valiant effort, but for no use, as he will eventually get pinned clean in the centre of the ring.

#2 McMahon’s decision to split and a vicious assault by The Miz

The Miz should turn heel in their feud

The next remaining four episodes of SmackDown Live will be crucial to put the Wrestlemania match in place.

Shane McMahon in the following Smackdown Live episode will address the WWE Universe and intimate them that he decided to call it quits on him teaming up with The Miz. He will cite the reason for his decision are the indifferences between the two.

The announcement will lead The Miz to come to the ring. The Miz agreeing with Shane McMahon will say that splitting up will be best for both of them.

They both will shake hands, but while McMahon will start going back, The A-Lister will attack him from behind.

To sell the attack, Shane McMahon will be unable to stand and taken off backstage on the stretcher. The Miz will go on to saying that he always hated Shane for taking his spot on the WWE World Cup as he is the only one who is Best In The World.

#1 Shane McMahon will issue a challenge to The Miz

The feud will culminate at Wrestlemania
The feud will culminate at Wrestlemania

Shane will come back in the next SmackDown Live show wearing a neck brace and to avenge his brutal assault will challenge The Miz for a No Disqualification match at WrestleMania. An arrogant Miz, after seeing the not so good condition of Shane McMahon will agree to have the match.

In my opinion, turning The Miz into full heel will be the right choice to move forward this feud. While the lure to make Shane McMahon a heel will always be there but since The McMahons have recently taken over both the brands as the authority figure to make both the show great again, it would be safe to say Shane's heel turn will have to wait.

On the other hand, The Miz has a proven record of giving his best in the heel character (go no further and see his work with Daniel Bryan).

What do you think? Is this the storyline, WWE should move forward with or not.
